"Do you like cats?" There came the question from Aizawa, who was walking a bit ahead, tapping his pockets on the outside, searching for the car keys as they entered the parking lot.
Katsuki answered with a shrug, which Aizawa didn't see since the kid was behind him, but he proceeded after a short pause.
"We have one at home. Her name is Shima."
"We also have a son, Hitoshi." Yamada cut Aizawa off, trying to get over how his husband just introduced their cat before their son. "He's also 13, so you two should get along well. He's staying over at a friend's place for a few days, so you'll have to wait a bit before you meet him."
Katsuki didn't react even as much as lifting his gaze to look at where they were going, or maybe look up at either one of them. Yamada opened the back door of their car on the right side for the kid, who hesitated for a moment to get in. The adults got into the car as well and before Aizawa drove off, he glanced at Katsuki on the backseat.
The boy was staring out the window while hugging his bag tightly. As his head was turned to the side, Shouta noticed a quite fresh scar across his left cheek. Nausea stirred his stomach just from thinking about how the kid must have got such a nasty scar.
"Is your seatbelt on, Katsuki?" He asked and the boy tightened his hold around his bag, flinching in a barely noticeable way and nodded silently.
Yamada entertained them during the drive home while Katsuki stayed completely silent in the back. When they arrived home and entered the house, Katsuki only started taking off his shoes when he's been told to do so.
Katsuki didn't look around the house. His gaze was fixated on the floor, occasionally landing on the feet of either adults to see where they were going, but nothing else seemed to interest him enough to bother looking at it.
"Your room will be upstairs, let's put your stuff down there, then I'll show you around." Said Hizashi as waited for Katsuki to put his shoes aside.
"Is ramen alright for dinner, Katsuki?" Aizawa asked, gaining another shrug from the blond kid. "I'll take that as a yes." Aizawa said and went off to the kitchen.
Hizashi smiled at Katsuki once more, even though he still hasn't looked up to see it yet. He started walking towards the stairs and the boy followed from a safe distance. They walked up to the room which was prepared to be Katsuki's, Hizashi opened the door and started:
"This is your room. It's nothing much for now, but we thought we'd give you free hands to design it to your liking."
The boy glanced up from the floor for the first time and looked around carefully. Once his gaze settled where the bed was, every muscle in his body tensed up and he suddenly seemed even more uneasy, hands squeezing the shoulder straps of his bag where he was holding into them.
Hizashi tried to ease the visible stress the newcomer was under and spoke up: "We could go out tomorrow and buy you some stuff for your room and all."
