They come to a clearing and Maria's mouth hangs agape in awe when she sees the beautiful meadow, predominantly purple and blue flowers covering the grass and Regulus takes out a small drawstring bag from his pocket and shoves his whole arm inside, pulling out a blanket that Maria helps lay on the flatterer part of the meadow in the centre and she sits on it, lying back and looking up at the sky. Regulus lies with his arms behind his head and his leg tangled with hers, his grey eyes only on her as she stares up at the clear sky.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Maria breathes, looking at the completely cloud free sky and Regulus nods, not looking up at the sky.

"Yeah, really beautiful." He whispers, watching how her nostrils flares gently when she inhales the fresh, forest air deeply, and he smiles as she furrows her eyebrows at the aeroplane that flies over their heads.

Maria hears him chuckle softly and sits up, turning to him, her eyebrows furrowed and her lips pressed together as she gives him a look, Regulus giving her the most innocent one he could muster but failing as she grins cheekily. Maria huffs, rolling her eyes and leans down, moving her own hair to one side as she connects their lips.
Regulus slowly sits up with her, his hand on the small of her back and one in her hip, trailing upward slowly and tracing her collarbone, the two of them not pulling back from the kiss. She slowly swings her leg over his thighs and rests herself on him, her legs either side of both of his.

Her hands trail from his cheeks to his messy hair, tangling in it and making it even more fluffed and tousled. Pulling away slowly, Maria's darker eyes look into his own, their noses still brushing as Regulus' hands trail down her sides and to her hips, slowly pulling her body further onto his but her hand — that was gripping his shoulder — slips and she falls onto him, laughing as he falls onto his back and she props herself on his chest, leaning on her forearms.

Regulus smiles up at her, not wanting to ever let go as he examines her chocolate coloured irises, seeing the small, barely noticeable hazel flecks in them. His hands grip her sides with a cheeky grin and he flips them over, Maria stumbles at the sudden movement and pushes him off her with a laugh, the two of them sighing as they look back up at the sky. Maria slowly moves her hand to the right, feeling her knuckles gently brush against the Black next to her's. Regulus moves his hand and runs his fingers up her palm before back down and intertwining them.

"What are you thinking about?" Maria whispers, seeing the expression on his face and he sighs, standing up, making her frown and push herself from the ground also.

"I—we need to talk." Regulus breathes, running a hand through his hair and Maria frowns at him sceptically.

"About what?"

Regulus lets out a breath at her cluelessness, not that he was annoyed or angry that she didn't know, who would? But, he's more angry because now, he's going to break her heart and Maria Potter doesn't deserve that. She deserves someone on her side who is good for her, but that's not him.

"We're getting married."

". . .what?" Maria says in confusion.

"Me and—and Rebecca, we're getting married." Regulus blurts and Maria's mouth falls slightly open as she stares at him. "But—" he steps forwards to tuck some hair behind her ear but she takes a step back, looking at the ground, obviously still processing what she's just been told. Regulus Black, the boy she fell in love with, it in an arranged marriage with the girl who's obsessed with him.

"Say something, Maria." Regulus pleads but she looks up from the ground at him with tears in her eyes. "I didn't want to—don't want to! Maria—wait!"

"Stop." Maria breathes as she begins to walk away but Regulus hastily follows her, cutting her off.

"I don't want to—you have to understand that Maria!"

"Stop it—just stop it Regulus!" Maria shouts at him, the two of them stopping their quick paced walk. "I—we knew this would happen."

"No, no—Maria." Regulus mumbles, shaking his head. "This is my fault, not yours."

"I knew it too!"

"It doesn't matter!" Regulus yells before pointing at himself. "I knew what I was getting you into—"

"So did I." Maria states in frustration.

"No." Regulus refuses, shaking his head as she begins to walk again but he follows her. "I shouldn't have—I—"

"What, Regulus?!" Maria snaps, stopping her walk, the two of them inches apart.

"I never should've—I care about you!" Regulus stumbles on his words. "But Rebecca—"

"You don't love her!" Maria shouts, pushing his chest angrily. "You never will—and now, you're gonna grow old with her and I'm going to have to watch while you act all happy and have a nice pure blood family."

"I don't want too!"

"Then don't!" Maria snaps, her breathing ragged from her rant. "Merlin—Reg, you're seventeen years old! Just leave that place." Maria steps forwards, cupping his jaw softly. "You can come and live with me—James will respect you, please—"

"It's not that simple anymore." Regulus whispers, taking ahold of her wrists and removing her hands from his face. Maria's eyebrows are pulled together and the tears in her eyes seem to burn even more as one drips down her cheek. The feeling of emptiness when his warm hands leave her wrists is one she'll remember forever as she watches him walk away from her.

Her chest heaves slightly as she stares at the forest that he disappeared into, her throat and mouth turning dry. Her lip trembles and her breathing is as shaky as her shuddering hands as she sucks in a sobbing breath.

They're getting married.

And she'll watch.

um, hi guys?

I'm not sorry for this, I live for the drama this will cause.
Can't pretend by Tom odell was playing when I wrote this and made it way sadder to write.

I'm so excited for when they go into their last year at Hogwarts though!

hope you're enjoying so far!
