Andy; you go and get him a bath ready and we'll do it all together.
With the few days they both had off they took on turns feeding and changing baby Alex.
Their conversation got on about Alex's mummy
Andy; "What happened to his mum if you don't mind me asking"
It took a few minutes to answer.
Robert; She had preeclampsia and she wasn't getting it treated none of the midwives knew about it and she risked her own life and baby's life she died in childbirth. She didn't want him or to be here.
Andy; I'm so sorry, I know how it feels to be not wanted by your mother, I was told my mother died when I was 9 then just before I left to go travelling I found out she was still alive. She told me she wanted nothing to do with me.
Robert couldn't say anything about it so he changed the conversation
Robert; So what brings you back to Seattle, I heard you were in Miami.
Andy; a long story that I don't want to talk about
He saw the pain in her eye that he knew something happened badly
Robert; "Well if you ever want to talk, I am a good listener"
Thanks, come on let's go and put him in his crib. She told him
The night went well Alex woke once in the night for a feed and they both got up with him.
One changed him than the other would feed while the other would make the next bottle for the next feed.
Alex wanted to be awake, he just wanted to held and cuddles but he wasn't crying. Robert cuddled him for a while then he needed the toilet so he passed him to andy.
She took him upstairs and laid on her bed in the spare room she told Robert where she was so if he wanted to go and sit with her.
Robert; when my wife found out she was pregnant she hated the idea, she said it would stop her from doing what she loves best. I tried telling her it wouldn't I'll be here to help, she was very close to getting a termination but I told her not to that I would look after him.
Robert opened more about his wife. Andy just listened as that all was needed.
Andy; I'm sorry, did she get to meet him before she died.
Robert;" no she died during childbirth, he never got to meet her.
She started yawning,
Robert;" come on let's go sleep Alex has already settled on you," he said looking down at the baby who was fast asleep on her chest before he picked the baby from Andy and put him in his crib.
"Goodnight Andy", Robert said as he switched the light off.
"Goodnight Robert" as andy laid further down on her bed
The next morning Robert heard Alex cooing in his crib so he decides to take the little man downstairs so Andy could sleep a little longer.
He read the routine list and followed every step and he certainly was a happy man with the wasn't a constant cry from the baby.
He laid next to his son on his play Matt watching him as he lifts his head off the Matt for a few seconds.
He didn't notice Andy standing in the doorway watching him She was so proud that this time he followed the routine.
Andy; "You've cracked it already, she said as she came into the lounge".
Robert; " All thanks to you, he told her".
Andy;" so I was thinking about going home for the night and if you drop Alex off at daycare tomorrow and I'll pick him up.
Robert agreed Alex had his last bottle and was fast asleep in his crib till hopefully about three.
Luckily for Robert, he slept till five which he could not believe. The first day all on his own and he was able to properly bond with his son without him screaming the house down.
When andy woke to no message saying Alex has turned into a monster again she sent Robert a message.
Hey, how did the day and night go with Alex

All good, no skipping steps and once again he settled for me plus he slept until 5 am and not 3.
Andy couldn't help but be happy for him.
Andy;" Wow, that amazing well-done daddy I'm proud of you, if he keeps it up you won't need me anymore. Will see you tomorrow night. Andy replied

Robert dropped Alex off at daycare and went to the station.
Ben; "You look like you have been sleeping, and got enough sleep at that"
Robert; that's because I have, Alex has got into a routine and he settles well for me"
Ben; well done, I'm proud of you, you're doing a great job of looking after my Godson.
Robert; if it hadn't been for andy then I would be struggling still
Pruitt heard his daughter's name being mention
Pruitt, some piece of advice for you don't try anything with her, she's been through enough these last few months and I won't let you mess with her.
Robert; I'm sorry sir but I wasn't thinking of doing anything she's just helping me out with my son
Pruitt; "good, well let's keep it that way" and walked away.
Once andy had finished her job she went to care to pick Alex and take him home. The nursery nurse told her that he has been a little upset for a few hours but finally fell asleep.
When they got home she saw a for Alex which looks important
a letter for Alexander Sullivan that just comes through the post do you want me to check what it is. Andy sent Robert a message.

Andy opened the letter and it's to say that Alex is due to have his second lot of injection tomorrow so she messages Robert back and told him.
"Please will you come with me to take him, Ben came with me, I couldn't watch when they injected him last time and made him cry". Robert asked andy.
The next day as they took Alex for his appointment, Robert was nervous but andy reassured him it would be alright. They got into the room but Robert couldn't watch as they gave him the needles while holding the baby she also took Roberts hand.
The side effects upset Alex pretty much he just wanted to be held close but also not by Robert but by Andy. He kept getting a temperature so they stripped him down to his vest and nappy with just a muslin blanket.
They both prepared for a long night ahead with the little guy.
