POV: Tord

My father, the king, begins to protest as I get onto my horse. "You can't just go out in the woods whenever you'd like! We have work to do for the king in the neighboring kingdom," my father exclaims. We always have work to do. 'All work, no play,' they say. Well, I need a break.
"Father, we've been working all day. Even a prince needs a little time to himself," I say as I begin to lead my horse through the palace gates and into the forest.
I squint as the sun shines in my eyes through the trees. It's always too bright in the middle of the summer. I guide my stallion under the the trees so I could at least see.
As my eyes adjust to the light, something runs in front of my horse. Suddenly, the horse rears up to its hind legs, frightened by the sudden, unusual movement. I lose my grip on the reigns and fall backwards. As I land, I hear a loud snap and a burning pain spreads through my arm.
Great. A broken arm and a terrified horse. How could this get any worse?

POV: Tom

I'm always busy. So many people are asking for my help since there's been a lot of bad luck going around this year. As I treat a regular's heavy cut from a wild animal, I hear more clamor outside of my apothecary than usual. I finish helping my customer, then walk out to check on the crowd.
All I can see through the crowd is a pure white stallion. One from the royal family. I push through the still gathering throng, and I can see the prince from the kingdom across the woods guiding his horse through the village. Why would he be here? He's from the one place with real nurses.
The prince searches through the crowd. Suddenly, he calls out, "Is there anyone who may help me with a medical issue?" Medical issue? He looks fine... Then I notice his left side is slightly slumped. Something broke. I can tell.
I push forward through the large group of people. As I emerge, the prince spots me and smiles. Something about the smile almost made me stumble.

POV: Tord

I see the crowd parting and someone pushing ahead. Once they are able to free themselves from the others, I see a male on the shorter side.
Usually, the village people are reluctant to help someone of the royal family, so I smile. He had a slight, focused frown but, as he looked at me, the male's eyes widened. He seemed to trip over his own feet. He fell forward. I couldn't help but swoop down and catch him.
As quickly as he fell, the small man picked himself up. He looked up at me and said, "...Thank you." He then crossed his arms and said, "I'm the medic in this town. Well, technically, I'm the apothecary of this village but I can help in medics as well."
"Wonderful," I say. "Then, can you help me with this arm?" I gesture towards my broken arm. The apothecary nods. "Follow me," he says as he walks through the crowd that parts around me.
We stop in front of a small building that was a little better-kept than most of the other buildings. The apothecary opens the door and we walk in.
I scan the place, interested. There were shelves upon shelves of components that I thought only nobles and royals could afford. Charts of diseases and the symptoms that occur on the muted light blue walls. Multiple stacks of books that littered the floor had many different topics upon their spines. Though this small place contained a lot of things, it was still neatly kept and tidier than what I had seen on my way in the village.
The apothecary's voice snaps me out of my trance. "Now let's see... Broken arm, right?" I nod. He begins to search the component shelves. After pulling a few out here and there, he then took them over to the small table on the opposite side of the room. I could hear him mumble, "Ginger for swelling... for faster healing..."

POV: Tom

It makes me happy to heal something so complex. Something like this came once in a blue moon. I can't help but smile while mixing a few of the more important elements together. I can sense the prince watching my every move, but it only made me a little flustered. I'm used to people staring.
I finish making the needed concoction to help and I head over to the prince. He smiles at me again and I can't stop myself from smiling back. To cover the smile up, I say, "Take about a tablespoon of this twice a day, morning and evening, for a week and it should be better by the end of that week. Be sure not to use your arm too much during recovery, or you could mess it up and have to restart."
The prince then says, "A week? Even my most skilled nurses need at least a month or two. How have you accomplished this?!" I shrug and say, "I have my ways."
After a moment, the prince speaks again. "My father will be furious. We are having the king and his daughter as company for the next few days and I'll be there with a broken arm." He sighs, then continues, "Then again... Is there anywhere that I can stay for the next week while I heal?" "There isn't much in this village, but there is an inn not too far from here. It's a few buildings down and it's pretty cozy around this time," I say.
The prince flashes his heart-melting smile and exclaims, "Excellent! I shall stay there!" He stands quickly, but suddenly sits back down, clutching his arm. He chuckles, then says, "I should be a little more careful, shouldn't I?" I laugh a little, then help him stand.
After he's steady on his feet, the prince states, "I just realized that I never got your name. Shall you tell me? If you don't mind, of course." I shrug then tell him, "Thomas. But you can call me Tom." "Tom... hmm... I like your full name better. Would you mind if I call you Thomas?" he asks. I nod, then lead him out of the apothecary and towards the inn.
