"Let's go." He hissed as he forced me out into the street.
"Why are you doing this?" I whispered and grimaced as his pushed the blade harder into the soft skin of my neck.
"I was willing to let go of your little stunt in the tavern but when someone came to me offering a small fortune for your head how could I refuse?" He laughed wickedly in my ear.
"Who?" I asked trying my best to look at the road below my feet while keeping my head above the knife. He didn't answer. Who would want me dead? I had only been here a month! Who would have the power to- Elenor. I knew how she had Charles under her thumb before I turned up. I hadn't known she would go to such measures to keep him under her control. It made sense Charles was one of the only pirates keeping Nassau free from rule and with his reputation, controlling him would be worth quite a lot.
"Ms. Guthrie." I turned my eyes to observe his reaction. He raised a brow turning to look down at me.
"You're a smart one. I can see why Vane would take an interest in you." We were now a few houses down the street our speed hindered by him keeping me against him.
"You can't think Charles will just let this go. You said yourself there's always one guy you don't cross." I tried to remind him of his own reasoning.
"We'll be gone and you'll be dead before he even opens his eyes in the morning." His voice was malicious as he pulled me down a dark alley at the end of the road. I gulped as he pinned me against the wall and put pressure on the knife.
"It is a shame killing a pretty thing like you. But oh well." I felt the blade begin to dig into my skin and a sharp pain before the blade fell from his hand. I slid from his grasp my hand going to the shallow cut on the side of my neck. I turned to see Ned choking as he coughed up blood, a sword pierced through his stomach. I watched as the life faded from his eyes before a sharp thrust removed the sword and his corpse fell to the ground. There standing over the dead man was my husband.
"Charles!" I gasped running towards him the gash on my neck forgotten. I through myself into his arms while he held the sword carefully away from me.
"Your neck." His voice was tight as he placed his large hand over the cut. I flinched while he slid the sword back into its sheath, keeping his other hand pressed against my neck to stop the bleeding.
"Your going to be fine it's just a knick let's get you back to the house and cleaned up." He gently held me to his side and pulled me away from the corpse.
"You came." I took a deep breath to silence the hammering of my heart. That had nearly been the end of my days.
"You're my wife. I'll always come." I saw the way his throat bobbed as he swallowed.
"Thank you." I whispered while running my hand up his side. I felt the tension leave his muscles as he seemed to relax.
"Y/N, oh Lord we saw that man forcing you down the street! Honey, are you okay!?" My mother caught sight of us and ran towards me.
"And you! You saved my baby!" I was shocked by her sudden change towards Charles. When she reached us she pulled me into her arms in a tight embrace. I held her tightly until she saw the blood on Charles's hand, still pressed to my neck.
"Let me see!" She carefully peeled his hand away and gasped upon seeing the gash.
"Come, come. I'll get you cleaned up. Honestly Y/N I was worried sick!" She fussed pulling me towards the door. I looked back at Charles's who had stopped walking.
"Go in, there's something I have to take care of." I nodded before allowing myself to be pulled back towards the house. My father nodded to Charles before taking my mother's hand as she hustled me inside.
"Darling, where do you keep your bandages?" My mother was a flurry as she sped to the bathroom to hunt for medical supplies.
"In the cupboard in the corner." I called while my dad pulled a chair out for me to sit.
"Who was that terrible man?" My mother seemed to have endless amounts of energy despight it being the middle of the night. I tried to answer her questions to the best of my ability while she cleaned the cut, rinsing with it with alcohol and bandaging it like she used to do when I was a child.
Charles's P.O.V.
I had seen red when Ned Low had Y/N pinned to the wall, his blade pressed to her porcelain skin. Followed by a sharp fear at the sight of blood on her neck. But she was okay, she was going to be fine.
"Right where I left you." I spoke to the corpse of Ned Low where I had left him on the ground of the alley. Grabbing it by its long head of blond hair and hauling it out of the alley. I began down the street, my knife in hand.
Y/N's P.O.V.
The news had spred like wildfire that morning after it had been discovered. I had awoken back in Charles's arms and enjoyed the feeling of his body pressed to mine. My mother had made breakfast and insisted on checking the cut on my neck. There was an uncomfortable silence when Charles came down the stairs but ny parents didn't try to persuade me to leave anymore. Now, I was walking down the street as people sent me odd looks. I turned the corner and made my way to where a croud had begun to form.
Last night my parents had begrudgingly agreed that just maybe Charles wasn't as bad as they thought. I had spent all morning buffering them from the rumors as to not mess with there newly less-evil mindset on Charles. I pushed my way through the crowd until I saw it. There in the middle of the town square was Ned Low's head on a pike. It's jaw was slack, it's skin was white and blood stained. I shuttered but didn't look away. I caught sight of Elenor Guthrie and watched as she gulped. 1Under the head was a note attached to the spike, in a messy scrawl were the words,,,
I angered Charles Vane
