My name is Kim Jibeom.
Simply, I am just another high school boy who is here to share with you my story.
I wish I can tell you something like my experience walking into a time machine or waking up with the ability to shoot spider webs out of my wrists.
But, nope.
Nothing of that sort.
In matter of fact, it is another of those cliché kind of stories where a high school boy meets a high school girl. They meet and fall in love.
Yeah, well.
If you are the kind who only wants to know the beginning and ending, I just said it.
What is probably worth your time?
Apparently, my journey to love is not as ordinary as you think.
Because the girl, who successfully won my heart, is more than just ordinary.
She is and has always been mine.
And I was and has always been hers.
....
It all began with the end of our first week of my second-year in Woolim High School. Lunchtime ensued right after our homeroom teacher left the classroom. I was about to pack my things when one of my best buddies nagged at me.
“Aish, Jinjja! What are you daydreaming about?! We are done packing and you didn’t even move a single thing. Yah, don’t even think about that stupid game. You will only lose anyway!”
“Quiet down, will ya, Kim Donghyun,” I slurred as I deliberately tossed the things into my bag.
Donghyun grunted, “Yah, careful with those things. Don’t come to me crying if you lose them or have them spoiled, Kim Jibeom.”
“Araso, Grandpa Kim.”
Donghyun raised a fist, inducing a reflex in me, as I jerked away from him.
“Don’t call me that, hajima!”
“Then, stop damaging my ears,” I groaned, zipping my bag and standing up. “Did you bring lunch today?”
“Ani, I have to eat cafeteria food today,” Donghyun pouted.
Ahh, no wonder someone was grumpy. Donghyun did not like spending money on food, when he could bring it from home.
I slung my arm over his shoulders and dragged him gently out of the classroom. We walked down the corridor that led us to the cafeteria, spitting some lyrics of the songs we both enjoyed. While Donghyun hummed recalling Infinite’s Man in Love, I grinned with the thoughts running in my head.
Just the chance I needed.
The day when Donghyun decided to eat at the cafeteria.
I was going to do something I should have done a long time ago.
After all, a real man always keeps his promise.
“You seemed happy,” Donghyun said as he looked at me from the corners of his eyes.
I smiled. “Of course.”
“Pig.”
I laughed, followed by giving him a headlock. “It’s not about food, Pabo Donghyun.”
“Let me go!” Donghyun whimpered as I released him. “Are you crazy?!”
We were about to reach the cafeteria when I halted and rested my elbow on his shoulder.
“Look at who’s there,” I flicked my eyebrows up playfully. “Near the drinks’ vending machine.”
Donghyun grunted like a hungry puppy before looking over the crowd. I could imagine his vision which was once blurred by anger and hunger, now zoomed into the ever bright glowing beauty of his longtime crush.
