Chapter 1
~Banishment~
The woman cried out as she was thrown backwards, body giving in to the force of her opponent’s blow. Her body careening through the air slamming into a wall of metal, but her path did not stop there. No. The metal tore like paper with the force and the woman came to a jerking stop against the second wall inside the hollowed hall. Her body slumped to the ground, her face pressed to the cold floor while alarms buzzing above her head and red lights flashed, signaling the urgency of the attack.
Fire was raining over her city, and the cries of her frightened people echoed around her. A man and his daughter had rounded the corner with a Chitauri soldier on their tail, gun poised to fire and end their lives as they screamed and threw themselves down towards the loading docks where the ships were waiting for evacuation.
The wall she had torn through groaned as two great hands began to pry it open, widening her path through the wall until it was fit for her opponent to enter. She slowly pushed herself up to her kneels, body bruised and weak. The titan approached her, looking down at her hunched body.
“Azure.” He tsked, “Azure, Azure, Azure.” He reached down, hand pulling her thick auburn hair into his fist and pulling. The woman hissed in pain as she was lifted from the ground. Her body writhed in the air as she gripped the titan’s hand with one clawed fist while the other gripped her stinging scalp. Her legs kicked wildly, her veins pumping with adrenaline.
“Da'virum!” she screeched (Let me go).
“Silence child.” The titan hissed I’m his degrading tone, squeezing harder as his right hand lifted his blade to point it at her abdomen. “Your mistake came at the cost of your people, they die now, because of you.” Azure shook herself, even pressed against the blade she regained her feral composure. Her eyes were bright blue, burning like the flames that burned her city to ash.
She came face to face with the titan, eyes boring into his. This was none other than Thanos, a mad war lord. For a moment Azure allowed her anger to bubble and brew within her, and all the anger she had suppressed while spying on his ship, serving him, killing for him, all came up. Her pupils reduced to pin pricks, her lips turned into a fearsome snarl displaying her row of teeth and pointed fangs. Her clawed hand raked across his fore arm. Blood spattered across the titan's armor and he dropped her with a grunt of surprise. Azure dropped to the ground and used her claws to nick his thigh and he knelt in surprise to grab it. She then took the opportunity to round house Thanos in the face. He grunted and fell to the floor.
Azure did not defeat him, for she knew that he would kill her with little complications, but for now, she needed to assure the safety of her brothers. Azure bolted down the hall, finding a couple corpses lining the hall to the staircase that lead down to the loading dock. Some of the people were Chitauri, and others her own people. Azure quickly slid down the stairs as fast as possible, taking in the scent of blood as she went.
None of the people that lay dead were that of her family, but the promise of their survival had yet to be confirmed. Her bare feet slapped against the cold stone floor as she rounded the empty halls. There was snarling from a distance and Azure recognized the faint scent of her brothers. Picking up the pace she ran down into the desolate loading dock where she found two men fighting against a dozen Chitauri, more still streaming into the docks.
