I woke up with a jolt, and I felt a pool of sweat soak my bed.

"Just a dream," I sighed in relief.

It felt so real, so vivid as if I was actually there. I could not remember what I dreamt about for the life of me, only that it felt disturbingly real. A cold chill rushed up through my spine as I dwelled on the thought.

I looked outside, it was still night. Shaking off the nightmare, I built up courage to go back to sleep.

                                            . . .

I woke up again about three hours late, body aching from my job once again.

"Ugh..." I groaned, "Never working a double shift again."

I work as an engineer and mechanic. I mostly fix speeders and hover-cars, but on rare occasions some guy will come in with an actual spaceship. No law-abiding citizen would come to my job for repair work. While we engineers do a good enough job ourselves, our company doesn't follow the government's policy of checking registration, verifying ID tags, and filing client records, so we're the perfect place to go to if you've stolen a ship or don't want to be traced by anyone for whatever reason.

I always wonder what my politician, piece of work of a father that I have would think of my job.

"Heh, he'd probably actually kill me this time," I laughed.

The thought of that nightmare I had still bothered me, and how it was so chilling yet I couldn't remember a thing. I decided to try and clear my head by admiring the view on my balcony. Thanks to my mother, she had me secretly live in one of my father's many houses, this one being on the slope of a mountain, so I probably get the best view in the whole city. As I opened the doors, I watched the sky scene as I've seen everyday of my life on Teran-IV

The scene was magnificent as always. The planet Teran-II loomed its beautiful blue and purple body straight ahead of me in the sky, and Teran-III stood mid sky, a green planet full of countless plant-life, but covered almost completely with swirling dull yellowish clouds. Teran-V, the bright emerald green gas planet, sat way in the horizon to my right. At night, it hovers high above the city to illuminate the dark night sky with its faint green hue. Our host planet, Teran (of which all the other planets orbit around like moons), is a massive red and orange gas giant, that took up a huge chunk of the sky in brilliant display. Two supergiant stars, one red and one blue, rose slowly as the morning matured, and would slowly dance around each other throughout the day, painting the sky with its colorful beams. The Teran planetary system is considered the most colorful and beautiful in the whole Human Federation.

I focused my eyes onto the landscape. Silver snow topped mountains rolled up and down in the distance in front of me, while the suns' light penetrated through the valleys. Olympus, the capital city of Teran-IV, laid to my left. Huge black and white skyscrapers towered over the rest of the cities buildings, built in very minimalistic style, but covered with windows and lights, which slowly began to turn off as the suns rose. To my right, a great rolling field of green and yellow grasses, stopping at a forest of red-leaved trees. Looking down, the suburb of Fantasia sprawled out for several miles in each direction.

Once I was done admiring my planet, I turned back inside to make breakfast.

A faint crash from outside stopped me from opening the fridge, and I whipped around and ran outside to see what the sound was.

In the distance, a building in Olympus had suddenly erupted into flame, smoke rising into the sky. I stood there dumbfounded.

    "What the hell happened?"

Then a cacophony of explosions erupted over the city, and travelled all the way to Fantasia. I stood in shock as what had to be hundreds of scattered explosions destroyed probably half of the city.

I heard faint gunshots from below. And screaming. And loud metal clanging, like the footsteps of machines. No... it WAS machines. When the realization hit me, so did a bullet from behind.

"Shit," I stammered as pain erupted in my back. "How'd I get shot?"

Shock froze me completely in place. I felt three more pierce my body. Blood rushed down my chest and back where the bullets had penetrated, and I fell down to my knees. "What the hell is this?" I thought. Everything happened too quickly for me to fully process the events occurring.

A glaring white light blinded my vision and I could feel an intense warmth. I thought I was dead. But I wasn't? I could still feel the burning pain from getting shot. And I could hear nothing but intense ringing. I felt an extreme sensory overload and collapsed to the ground, barely conscious. My vision cleared as the light dissipated, presenting a nuclear cloud the size of a mountain in front of me. I could see the shockwave and a wave of fire racing towards me.

"THIS was the nightmare," I thought, in a final moment of clarity.

The shockwave tore up the very foundations of the city. The decimating force closed in on me and I felt a searing heat and-

. . .

I woke up with a jolt.
