Jane's Point Of View:

Today is Patty Doyle's RICO trial. I got out of bed, then Jo Friday followed me into the kitchen. I fed Jo and Bass, then made a cup of coffee. Later that morning, Maura came out with Ariana in her arms.
"Are you ready?" I asked
"No." she said uneasy. I gave her a quick kiss, then went and got ready. I put on a black skirt and a white button down shirt. After I got ready, I kissed Maura goodbye.
"See you later. Bye Ari." I said as I kissed Ariana on the head.

"You look a little...naked." Frost said
"Excuse me?" I asked
"I can see your knees." he said
"You want me to write him up for harassment?" Korsak asked sarcastically
"Yes." I said giving him a smirk as I sat at my desk.
"You do look nice though. I always like you in your court outfits." Korsak replied
"You can write yourself up too."
"Nervous about testifying? I've done it once." Frost said
"All Cavanaugh and I have to do, is establish chain of custody to get Patty's ledger admitted into evidence." I said
"I'll be glad when you get rid of that copy of his damn book." Korsak said
"Can I see it?" Frost asked
"No. And you don't want to." I said
"Yes, I do." he replied

Me and Korsak looked at each other, and I leaned back on my chair.
"You guys didn't read it?" Frost asked
"I'm From Southie, Frost. For all I know, I got cousins in that book." Korsak said
"I see you downloaded a copy of the federal indictment." I told Frost
"It's interesting. You ever tried RICO case before?" Frost asked
"No."
"Me either." Korsak said
"Look at all these counts...loan-sharking, bookmarking, trafficking in narcotics...oh, and 15 counts of murder. How did the Feds establish that Patty ordered the hits?" Frost asked
"ROCO cases is all about proving that Patty was the head of a crime syndicate, and he didn't have to pull the trigger himself." I said

"With Donovan's testimony, the government can prove Patty was behind 15 murders." Korsak said
"Then why is the book important?" Frost asked
"It corroborates his story. This is the only guy, still alive that can tie Patty to all these murders." Korsak said before Cavanaugh walked up.
"Rizzoli, gonna need you in my office. A.U.S.A's here." I got out of my chair and followed him into his office.
"Good luck you don't have to say a word if you just show the judge those knees." Frost said sarcastically. I turned around a looked at him.
"The judge is a women." I said

Maura's Point Of View
Court:

Jane was on the stand, and a man was asking her questions.
"Could you describe the location, ️Detective?" He asked Jane
"The Boston cemetery." she replied
"Can you tell us what you found there?"
"A plastic bag with a blue ledger in it."
"Is this the ledger you found?" He asked holding up an evidence bag that had a ledger in it.
"Yes."
"Thank you. No further questions." She walked off the stand, and took a seat next to me.

Patty turner around and looked at me.
"Recess!" The judge said. We walked out of the court room, and saw Frost and Korsak running around the corner.
"What?" Jane asked
"Jackie Donovan is dead." Korsak said
"What?!" Jane yelled
"U.S Marshal's car he was in was T-bones by semi on Congress and Atlantic Avenue about ten minutes ago." Frost said
"That's just around the corner." I said
"Patty got to him." Jane said
"Two U.S. Marshals are dead too." Korsak said
"So what this mean for the trial?" I asked
"Patty won the first round." Jane said

We walked back in the court room and sat down.
"It is obvious this is no accident, your honor. Five minutes before our key witness is supposed to testify and half a block from your courtroom, he is killed by teamsters driving a truck? I think we all know who's behind this." The man yelled glaring at Patty.
"Your honor, there is no evidence that my client has anything to do with this." Patty's layer said
"The government asks for two days to regroup." He said
"As tragic as this is, the trial has already started. Call your next witness." The judge said
"Why can't we call his next witness?" I whispered to Jane.
"He doesn't have another witness ready. And he sure as hell doesn't have another Jackie Donovan." "Your Honor, my client has been in jail for over a year. The entirety of the government's case seems to ready in a now dead witness. At very least, my client should be considered for bail." Patty's layer said
"Bail?" Jane asked
"They'll never do that." I replied
"I declare the Patty Doyle is considered for bail." the judge said
"Oh my god." I said
