"hello everyone! welcome
to the maronic podcast,
episode 1 — ...because we
can't afford a radio channel."

máire sat in front of the three cameras set up in front of her and aaron, one in the middle and one on focused on either of the two, their set of two large vintage wingbacked armchairs and armed microphones for each of them carefully framed on either side of the neon sign they had made with the name of the podcast. off-camera, the small sound booth they had managed to craft for wesley set up as a sort of control center. she was comfortable, her legs pulled up crossed with one another on the chair, turned slightly towards aaron in the other chair.

"we'd also have to
run that constantly.
and i don't know if i
could survive that."

"because you'd have to
be on-air 24/7 or because
you'd have to listen to me
talk literally all the time?"

máire's eyebrow quirked up and aaron laughed, the pair relaxed in each other's presence. he continued the joke,

"oh, i already do that."

"i guess we could just
play royalty-free elevator
for the other 22 hours a day."

"you ever suggest that
again i'll literally
move out of the flat."

the blonde girl laughed, adjusting the boom arm of her mic as aaron shifted a little in his chair, a sort of exertion of nervous energy he was trying to shake.

"anyways! we should probably
uh, introduce ourselves. i'm
máire kavanagh; actress, user
of the internet, wikipedia calls
me a model — i disagree — and
uh, proud holder of a degree
in film studies."

"and i'm aaron johnson. historically,
an actor. recently, a builder of podcast
studios. proud holder of zero uni degrees."

aaron grinned a cheeky smile at his jokes, making máire grin too, buying into the bit. she furthered the banter,

"historically."

"micro-histories,
whatever."

"ooooh, controversial."

"are they?"

"mildly, among scholars.
i think. didn't do too
much history at uni."

she shrugged and aaron breathed
out an amused sigh.

"right, among scholars."

máire looked off into the direction off-camera before continuing,

"wyatt, do you want to
introduce yourself too?"

a unmic-ed sure came from the direction máire was looking towards and after a few moments of shuffling, wyatt appeared on camera, bending down to speak into her mic.

"hey uh, i'm wyatt, of the aikin variety." he started, "i'm a generally unemployed potter — so, um, basically i just make pottery for my mum. sometimes i crochet too, i can also sew holes in pants, which is fun! — and i smooch off my brother's acting clout, so that's how i ended up here: good ol' nepotism! i'm the producer," he put a special fun emphasis on the word before continuing, "i took a few AV classes in school and i have a joint degree in the fine arts and tourism... so, eh... i'm totally qualified to be here right now, and i definitely don't still live with my parents! alright, now i'm oversharing, goodbye!"
