Wanda Maximoff is sitting on a chair and watching TV when she hears knocking. She grabs a remote and turns off the TV. The sitcom she's been watching is not her favorite anyway. Knocking repeats. Who can it be? She told were is she living only a few closest friends and there is no way they could get here. Wanda goes to her bedroom and quickly hides the book of Darkhold into the big old chest. She still doesn't know what exactly her powers mean and how to control them, but she is working on something big and no one will stop her this time.

"Wanda? Are you there?!" she hears her friend, Clint's voice.

"What the hell are you doing here?" she says as she opens the door. Clint isn't looking very well. He has a very pale skin and looks like he hasn't slept for a long time.

Wanda frowns.

"We need to talk." Clint says and enters her house.

A quarter later they are both drinking beer on the sofa and laughing. Barton can't remember  the last time he felt so comfortable and carefree since his wife left him.

"And how's Laura?" Wanda asks as if she was reading his thoughts.

"Yeah... she left..." Clint hangs his head.

"Wait... what do you mean, she left? You guys got divorced? And what about the children?"

"She got custody. You know... after she found out what I've been doing during the blip... she couldn't even look at me. She said that kids wouldn't be safe with a murderer."

"Oh my God, Clint... I'm so sorry... But it's not your fault. After Pietro and Vision died..." Wanda's voice trembles "I also messed up some things a little bit..." She clears her throat and stands up. "But I cope with everything now." Clint wants to hug his friend, when he sees that she is barely holding back her tears, but Wanda steps back. "I'm fine" she says and looks away. "I'm gonna get some water and sandwiches. Peanut butter?"

"Sure" Clint replies and smiles nostalgically. Peanut butter. It was Nat's favorite.

Wanda goes to the kitchen and leaves Clint alone. To kill some time Hawkeye starts to look around her house. He could renovate this and that out here. Even right now. Looking for tools, he enters some room. It is dark in there, but Clint sees a big chest in the corner. "She probably keeps all tools right there" he thinks and opens the chest.

Meanwhile Wanda makes sandwiches and comes back to the living room.

"Clint?" she says when she notices that Hawkeye's not there. "Clint, were did you go?" Wanda sees her bedroom's door is ajar.

When Clint opens the lid, at first he just sees a book. Nothing special. But something is wrong. He grabs it and and opens. It isn't a normal book. Barton can feel the energy flowing through its pages it looks really weird. But why was it hidden in Wanda's room?

"Oh... shit" Clint whispers.

"Clint? Clint, where did you go?" he hears. Barton quickly puts the book back and closes the chest.

"I'm here! I was just... looking around..." he is trying to control his voice and don't let Wanda notice how nervous he is. He doesn't know what is Wanda up to, but he knows that it's definitely nothing good.

"Oh..." Wanda looks at him with suspicion. "I brought sandwiches and some water."

"Actually I have to go now. I have a lot of work and um..." Clint feels his palms are starting to sweat. Wanda is his friend but he knows that since Vision's dead she is a little bit... unstable. And now she's hiding a weird magical book in her bedroom. Yeah, that sounds really suspicious. Hawkeye wants to turn around and leave, but he suddenly feels he can't even move. He looks at Wanda and notices that her eyes turned red. She knows that he knows.

"Listen Clint. I don't know what you saw in there, but I promise I don't wanna hurt anyone. I just want to get my family back. That's all I want."

"Let me go, you scarlet bitch!" Maybe Wanda can control Clint's limbs, but not his sense of humor. He shouts when Scarlet Witch harder tights her powers around his neck. "Calm down, okay?"

"Clint, don't make me hurt you. You need to promise, you won't tell anybody what you saw here."

"Wanda, relax! I'm not gonna tell anybody!"

"Is that so?" Scarlet Witch narrows her eyes and tilts her red-haired head.

"Look, Wanda. I'm not even sure what are you planning. I just saw some bizarre book in your bedroom. How exactly are you going to bring your family back, huh?"

Witch chuckles softly.

"I'm not that stupid. Why would I tell you that? So you can tell The Avengers about it?"

Clint realizes she began to read his thoughts.

"Huh..." Wanda frowned. "Interesting... You really don't wanna hand me over to them..."

Clint nods.

"But... why?" Wanda asks

Hawkeye smiles mysteriously. "Actually... I need your help."
