Perhaps In Another Lifetime

Chapter 1

'Thump' the hard cover book making a sound as you close it, it took a good few hours for you to finish the book but it was worth it, it had a satisfying ending and it was nicely written however your stomach had started rumbling, checking the clock you notice that it's time for dinner.
Getting up from your bed and heading to the fridge however there's nothing in it..."Haah, I was so preoccupied in reading i forgot to buy food." You sigh exasperated you glance at the clock once more your left brow raising in thought 'it wouldn't hurt to buy ingredients now, right?' You shrug head to your room to freshen up and head out.

As you take a step outside of the shop you notice a ringing noise in your ear your eyebrows knit 'weird....' you think nothing of it and cross the street looking around to make sure it was safe, it wasn't safe. As you were crossing a car had hit you it seemingly came out of nowhere but you couldn't care less, the last thing you heard was a blurry ringing from an ambulance.

Your head aches like hell but you open your eyes waking up in an unfamiliar room 'I thought I died....' you thought looking at your hands the situation felt so unreal that you couldn't help but think it was a dream .

You pinch yourself and it hurt, a lot, 'nope definitely not a dream' you think, there was also this unfamiliar room you were in, looking around you spot a black and white dress lying on the bed 'A maid outfit..?' Your situation was getting a lot more concerning. Deciding to look around more you notice a mirror, you pick it up and look at yourself, it wasn't you staring back instead it was a girl with black hair and grey eyes, you drop the mirror in shock touching your face "huh....?" Disbelief filled you 'What is happening....!' Your voice sounded different and your face and body were too 'No way...this has to be a dream right?!' 'Knock knock knock' You look at the door "Y/n get up! We're in need of some help right now! The Crown Prince has come to visit!" Startled you answer "Ah y-yes of course, I'll be there in a second" Your voice was shaky and you could barely utter out the sentence and now you have to hurriedly get ready.

Taking a step out of the room you notice the girl who had called you waited for you outside of your room "Took you long enough" she eyed you up and down her eyebrow raising "Why do you look so....messy?" You tried your best to be as fast as possible while figuring out how to put everything on, you just sighed "I was in a hurry, just tell me what I have to do" She sighed and walked away taking this as a signal to walk with her you run up to her and she starts explaining the tasks.

'Washing the dishes, check. Helping out in the kitchen, check.' You thought silently, it had been a few days or so when you awoke in this place at first you were worried about the tasks but that eased out the moment you started them, it felt natural in this body, but now you were worried about this world and how to get back, you caught a glimpse of the Crown Prince and the name, the kingdom and the name of the duchy you were working at were enough to pinpoint your location, it was the novel you recently finished, thinking about this you grimaced "how ironic" you almost felt pity for yourself for a moment not only because you were a mere side character but it was also because you didn't even wanna be here, snapping out of your thoughts you hear one of the maids, Lisa call to you "Y/n we need you to serve the Lady!" You nod she was nice and in her 30's she was your guiding hand to settle in this world though she didn't know that.

Following Lisa to the garden you saw a picturesque scene, the Lady and the Crown Prince together drinking tea. They were blindingly beautiful 'Yeah... I definitely ended up in a romance novel..' you made a face and walked to one of the sides where some maids were standing awaiting orders, It was a position where if the Lady and the Prince were to talk quietly the maids wouldn't hear.

It had been a few minutes and the Prince was chatting with the Lady mostly small talk but he had said something that surprised the Lady as she had spilled the tea she was drinking, her handmaiden immediately rushed to her side aiding her and walking her out of the room whilst instructing us to clean up the mess and escort the Prince to somewhere else.
