Dumping the amount of money she saw necessary for the treat she wanted, she offered it to the lady. “A chocolate frog please.” She requested, smiling brightly at the thought of the sweet. Her family wasn’t one to buy her things such as chocolate, the only time she had a chocolate frog was during christmas two years ago, when the Malfoy’s had sent her family a few gifts. She was only allowed one, the rest were thrown away. Her parents believed it to be a reward, a reward she never earned.

Once she was handed the chocolate frog, the trolley lady closed their door and moved onto the next. The thumping cart swerving and bumping the wall every now and then. Lumikki hastily unwrapped the edible frog and happily took savoring bites. The richness of it stimulated her taste buds.

What had stopped her from finishing it however, was the look she felt Trevor was giving her. Feeling guilty about eating something that looked like him, she placed the half eaten frog back in the box and closed it, not even bothering to take out the card. The girl set it down beside her, planning to finish it later.

Scooting closer to the window, her dress scrunching up a bit as she did so, she watched as mountains zoomed past, forming green blurs before her eyes. Only nine hours, she thought, her body shaking with anticipation.

The train had not even been two hours from its destination when Lumikki had been startled awake from her hour long nap- she had changed into the school robes thirty minutes prior, the heavy clothing had comforted her enough to fall asleep.

“Trevor!” A startled Neville had cried. For he had awoken from his nap as well, only to be met with an empty space next to him and an open door. He dropped to the floor, making sure his pet hadn’t just blended in with the flooring. But no luck, his beloved pet was on the loose in a train filled with hundreds of students, meaning a large amount of compartments had to be searched.

Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes rather harshly, palms digging into her head, the young girl responded to his cry with not much enthusiasm. “Neville, what happened?”

Not caring about the unpleasant feeling of the rough carpet rub against his knees, the first year wizard hastily got up, tears now filled his eyes.

“It’s Trevor, he’s missing. I woke up and the door was open and now he’s gone.” The boy explained rather quickly. Lumikki’s tired mind barely grasped onto what he had said. Rising up from her seated position, she peaked outside of their shared compartment, checking to see if the small toad was anywhere near them before leaning back inside. Her heart aching at seeing her new friend bursting into tears, snot slightly dripping out of his nose.

“I can’t see him from where we are, but I can check the compartments that way-” she extended her small arm to point towards the compartments on the left, “-you can check over there, he’s small and it’s a closed off area. He couldn’t have gone far.” The girl comforted, patting Neville’s shoulder with a soft smile and blowing a kiss to her sleeping cat before going on with her plan.

She observed her surroundings carefully, wanting to make sure she didn’t mess the tiny creature. Or step on him for that matter. Grimacing at the horrific image, she continued on her quest. Once making sure that Trevor had not simply gotten lost in the long hallway, Lumikki began knocking on compartment doors- even the opened ones since she did not want to seem rude.

The girl had knocked on only three doors, and had quite awkward conversations with some second and third years in the process, before she felt someone tap her shoulder. “Are you looking for something?” The person asked.

The young witch craned her neck to see who had so stealthily come up to her. She felt a small weight lift off her shoulders when she was met with a girl about her height, and judging by the youthfulness of her features and no indication of belonging to any house, Lumikki made the assumption that she was also a first year.

The girl standing before her had both hands on her hips, bushy hair, and almost perfect posture. And Lumikki, being so caught up with analyzing her, hadn’t even processed the fact that she was asked a question.

Clearing her throat, hands feeling clammy now that she realized how stupid she must’ve looked, the young Neva spoke shakily. “I’m sorry, could you repeat that?” She questioned, rather pathetically if you asked her.

The bushy haired first year now crossed her arms, but her face showed no signs of annoyance. “I asked if you were looking for something. I saw you walk past my compartment, and thought I could be of some assistance.”

“Oh!” Lumikki was quite shocked at how upfront the girl was. Eyeing her suspiciously, as though the girl’s words would be taken back at any second, she felt obligated to explain the situation at hand. “My friend Neville lost his pet toad. I guess if you’re willing to help…” Her voice died down rather quickly, realizing she hadn’t caught the name of the fellow Hogwarts student.

“Hermione Granger, pleasure to make your acquaintance.” With the confident introduction, Hermione had stuck out her hand for Lumikki to shake, an infectious grin now present. She gratefully accepted the action, feeling much more at ease.

“Lumikki Neva. It is nice to meet you.” Pulling her hand away, now with a smile on her face that matched Hermione’s, she guided the conversation back to Neville’s lost toad. “In order to find Trevor-”

“Trevor?” The bushy haired girl questioned.

“The toad.” Hermione’s lips parted as she let out a soft ‘ah’. “In order to find him quicker, I was thinking I could check the doors on the left and you should check the ones on the right.” Once hearing the girl’s confirmation, the two young witches parted ways. Lumikki went back to what she had been doing, knocking on compartment doors and avoiding as much awkward small talk as possible.
