Lucius Malfoy’s words began creeping back into her head. ‘I would suggest that your daughter go find her seat, before she’s forced to sit with other irresponsible kids.’ That, along with her father’s constant speeches about making friends with the right people, fueled the young witch’s anxiety. Sweat starting to gather on her forehead, the voices of both her father and Mr Malfoy grew louder and louder, causing her fists to clench. Fingernails creating crescents in the palms of her hands.

“Ma’am, please find your seat, we are departing!”

Jumping with a sharp exhale, Lumikki made a one-eighty degree turn to see who had thankfully interrupted the voices in her head. It was a lanky man, with dark eye bags under his drooping eyes. Not wanting to create a scene, which had already happened, seeing as how a few of the doors had opened up, revealing Hogwarts students of all ages who had wanted to see who was being scolded.

Chewing on her bottom lip harshly, the young Neva meekly nodded, avoiding eye contact with everyone as she made her way further down the aisle, only to be stopped by an outstretched arm.

“You can sit with me and Trevor. We’re the only ones in this one anyway.”

Removing her gaze from the floor, she looked to see who had offered her a seat. There stood a chubby boy with red cheeks, with a small toad clutched in his left hand. Wanting to no longer be the center of attention, the girl silently accepted, a small smile forming on her now throbbing lips. Entering the decently sized space, Lumikki let her shoulders slump when hearing the boy slide the door close, no longer having her every move watched.

“Thank you for letting me sit with you.” She spoke, setting Gordo’s cage on the seat across from where the boy had his toad’s little travel case. She thought about letting him out, but deciding against it since Gordo doesn’t exactly play nice. Taking a seat next to the caged pet, she smoothed out her dress, making sure there were no wrinkles to be seen.

“It’s no problem really. Just human decency.” The boy replied, sitting down directly across from her, setting his pet toad, Trevor, down on his lap.

     “What’s your name?”

“Neville Longbottom.” He extended his arm out in front of him, which Lumikki gratefully took and gave him a firm and enthusiastic handshake. “And you?”

“Lumikki Neva. Are you also starting your first year?”

Leaning back in the cushioned seat, the girl let go of Neville’s hand, waiting for his answer.

“Yes actually. I’m guessing it’s yours as well.”

Lumikki hummed in response, sticking her hand into Gordo’s cage to gently stroke his back. “We should be friends.” She boldly suggested, catching Neville off guard.

“A-alright” the boy quickly agreed, glad to have an established friendship before stepping foot in Hogwarts.

The girl nodded happily, her father’s words going in through one ear and out through the other. She didn’t even think to bring up the topic of blood purity, frankly not caring what the boy’s blood status was.

“So what does your wand look like?” The boy questioned with genuine curiosity. Before Lumikki could retrieve her wand from her suitcase, the door suddenly flew open, revealing a plump middle aged woman with a kind smile.

     “Anything from the trolley dears?”

The young Neva immediately went scavenging through her suitcase to find her bag of galleons and sickles. Triumphantly clapping when she retrieved it. Neville had purchased a box of Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Jelly Beans during the time it took Lumikki to find her money.
