Set Yourself On Fire

Starr sighed as she walked around the house cleaning up Ace's toys while holding Ace who was asleep in her other arm she kicked the toy basket into their room. She laid Ace on their bed and smiled as she covered them up and turned the lights out, walking out.

Starr looked over at her and her siblings father who was passed out drunk on the floor, she sighed and grabbed his s legs, dragging him into his room. Raccoon walked up behind Starr and handed her a mug full of coffee "You should get some rest" Starr said as she kissed his head.

She walked into the kitchen and began to make Ace and Raccoon their lunches for school tomorrow so it was ready to go. Once she finished she sat the bags in the fridge and began to clean up the dishes from dinner.

The phone began to ring which grabbed Starr's attention immediately since it was almost 4:30AM, she slowly made her way to the phone and answered it "Hello..?" She asked softly into the mic

"We've been trying to contact you about your car warranty, this will be our final try to contact you" A male robot sounding voice said on the other end of the phone

She groaned when hung up, she sat on the couch and turned the lamp out as she covered herself with her jacket as she closed her eyes and soon falling asleep

"Raccoon that's mine!" Ace yelled as they grabbed onto their sweater that Raccoon was trying to put on "You never even wear it!" Raccoon yelled back, Starr groaned as she sat up, their yelling had woken up but she was used to it

"Starrrr!!" Ace whined "what?" Starr asked as she stood up "Raccoon won't give me my sweater back!" They yelled "They haven't even touched it since they got it!!" Raccoon whined "stop fighting and get ready for school" Starr demanded

Sean stumbled out of his room, making the three children look at their father, he grabbed onto the wall and looked back at them "what are you looking at?!" He snapped, the three kids just looked away from him as he nodded and walked into the bathroom

"Lunches are in the fridge, do you two want a ride to school?" Starr asked as she dug through the dirty laundry, pulling out a pair of her shorts before he
Smelling them and sliding them on

Ace pulled out the two bagged lunches, handing Raccoon his "Nah we can walk" Raccoon said with a smile, Starr nodded  "Alright, well don't forget it's rent night tonight" She said as she handed the two their coats

"I have a job after school I'll give you what I make" Raccoon said as he kissed Starr's cheek "I'm babysitting tonight since that should cover my end" Ace said as she kissed Starr's cheek too and walked out with Raccoon

Starr smiled and looked over at Sean who was getting a beer out of the fridge "do you plan on helping with money?" She asked, Sean looked at her and just started chugging his beer as he walked out of the house

Starr sighed and grabbed her bag as she walked out of the house, she got in the car and drove off to work

Starr got out of the car and walked into the club where she worked as a waitress, she put on her name tag and clocked in, she grabbed her tray and started putting empty cups on it

"Hey pretty lady" Someone said as they walked behind Starr and slapped her butt, Starr gasped and quickly turned around to face her neighbor and friend Kacey "Jesus Kay you scared the shit out of me"

Kacey laughed "sorry girl" She said as as she looked around "looks like I wasn't the only one checking you out" Kacey said as she pointed at a guy who was sitting by himself looking at Starr

Starr sighed and laughed as she sat down the tray she was holding that had the empty cups, she made her way towards the guy who was loot at her "a picture would last longer you know" She said in a snarky tone

He laughed "yea but it's not the same" He said making Starr laugh "is that so?" She asked, He held out his hand towards her "I'm Seven" He said with a smile, Starr shook his hand "I'm Starr"

"Nice to meet you Starr" Seven said as he pulled his hand away "Let me buy you a drink?" He asked "that sounds lovely, but I'm on the clock" She said as she pointed at the other waitresses

He nodded "well when do you get off?" He asked, Starr looked at the time "in about and four hours" She said as she looked back at Seven, he nodded again and wrote down his number "give me a call when you get off" He said as he handed Starr the paper

Starr nodded as she took the paper and waved while walking back to Kacey "so? how'd it go?" Kacey asked with a smirk "same as it always does with the boys in this club, he gave me his number" Starr said as she held up the paper with his number

"If you don't want it I'll take his number" Kacey said with a small laugh "be my guest" Starr said as she slid the paper into her shorts pocket and walked away to take orders and such

"Starr we're home!" Raccoon asked as him and Ace walked into the house "She's at work stupid, remember?" Ace said as they sat their book bag down, Raccoon rolled his eyes

"I gotta go to work can you handle dad and the neighborhood kid by yourself?" Raccoon asked as he looked at Ace. They nodded "Yea sure whatever" they said as they plopped on the couch and sighed, pulling out their phone and playing the early 2000's hit game angry birds

Starr opened the front door to the house and stumbled into the house "I'm home!' she yelled as she sat down plastic food holders down "dinner!" she called, Both Ace and Raccoon walked out of their rooms "what is it" Ace asked "whatever they let me take open" Starr said as she opened the boxes "and that look like its dog shit" Ace said as they walked back into their room

Starr sighed and sat down and began to eat "Starr can I talk to you about something?" Raccoon asked as she moved his fork around in his food "of course" she replied as she stood up, throwing away her food and grabbing a beer out of the fridge "well I uh.. went to the doctors on my way home today and well I have AIDS" Raccoon said as he looked down at the floor

Starr froze for a few seconds before asking "H-How..?" all she could think about was her brothers health and the hospital bill that was going to come with this "you remember Stays son... Jackson..?" Raccoon asked, Starr nodded "well he goes to my school..and sometimes we meet  up in the locker room.." he said as he sniffled "Jesus Raccoon.." Starr said as she rubbed her face

"I-I'm sorry.." he said, Starr just shook her head "just go to sleep well figure something out tomorrow" She whispered as she rubbed her head and walked to her room, she closed the door and slowly slid down it until she was sitting on the ground where she soon fell asleep.
