Mara was always a curious girl. Dabbling in a little bit of everything. Luckily her backstory is the tame one of the two.

At age 1, her older brother, whom she had never met, came home from jail. He began abusing her, hitting her and screaming. This caused Mara to fear him, and when he was put in jail for life, Mara felt safe again. The sad thing is, this all happened before she was two.

Before she turned two, her parents couldn't afford to take care of her, so they put her up for adoption. A tragedy isn't it.

But the day she turned 2 years old, a nice couple adopted her. Jane and Samual Olive. They spoiled her, but made sure she was an independent person. They got a dog, though he tragically died by getting hit by a car. Mara was devastated when that happened, but her parents were able to work through it.

Her new parents were not poor like her old ones. Quite the opposite actually. Both were paid plenty a year, and they never struggled for money. Mara could have grown up a very spoiled little girl, but her new parents raised her right.

At the time this story takes place, Mara was in college, around 20 years old. The hero, one known as Marigold.

Don't worry Reader. The real story will come soon. But first, we must meet the "villain" of our story.
