In the Fire nation palace two young firebenders were training. One was a 10 year old girl, she had amber colored hair that had brown streaks, she had tan skin and different colored eyes, the right being gold and the left being a bright red. The other was a 12 year old boy, he had dark brown hair and fair skin, he had amber colored eyes.

"Alright, that's enough training for today." An old man said as the two took a deep breath. The two looked at each other, the girl grinned making the boy have a slight blush form on his cheacks.

"Lets go feed the turtleducks Zuko." The girl said and started walking. Zuko grabbed his shirt and followed after her.

"Yoko wait for me!" He called chasing her. Yoko looked back over her shoulder and smiled at him as she stopped. Together they walked side by side to the pond in the garden. Zuko's mother, the fire queen, was already sitting by the pond. Yoko's mother was there as well, standing next to the queen holding a loaf of bread.

"Mother!" Yoko called happily, running up to her mother. She hugged her and went back and sat next to Zuko by the water.

Yoko and Zuko's mothers look at each other and nodded. "Zuko, Yoko, come here. We have something to give you two." The queen said.

Zuko and Yoko looked at each other, got up and sat in front of their mothers. "Your Fathers gave these to us when we were about your age. We want you two to have them now." Yoko's mother said as they both took off the necklaces they were wearing, and placed them on the children.

"They were our Betrothal necklaces. And now they're yours, you two are betrothed from this day on." The queen said with a smile. Zuko blushed as he glanced at Yoko, he knew he had feelings for her but didn't think she felt the same.

Getting lost in thought Zuko was startled when a pair of arms were wrapped around him. Yoko was hugging him with a big grin on her face. He could tell that she was happy, in turn it made him happy. Yoko wasn't much for words so by the way she was acting he knew that she returned his feelings. Knowing this he smiled at her and hugged her back.

Thier mothers were watching the two, smiling. They knew that these two were the best match for each other.

(Time skip/ agni ki)
(Zuko's P.O.V)

I looked around through the crowd, looking for my beloved. I saw her and smiled, I was given strength just knowing that she was there. She smiled at me, a hand going to her betrothal necklace, one of my hands doing the same. It's been 3 years since our mothers betrothed us, and I couldn't be any happier.

I turn around when I heard the gong. And in seeing my Father I fell to my knees.

I begged for mercy and forgiveness, but he kept telling me to stand and fight. I refused, and Father stepped up to me. "You have dishonored me and the Fire Nation." He bent fire at me, burning the left side of my face. I screamed out in pain, I could faintly hear Yoko screaming out my name. My memory after that was on and off.

I remember hearing Yoko yelling and telling people to get things for her, and seeing her worried face, telling me that everything was going to be okay. After that, my memory faded in to black as I passed out.

(Yoko's P.O.V)

As soon as I heard Zuko scream I jumped over the arena wall and ran over to him. "ZUKO!!" I screamed. I looked up at the Fire Lord with anger in my eyes as I held Zuko in my arms. He turned and left, not saying a word. Iroh ordered two soldiers to come and carry Zuko to his room. As we passed by servants I told them to bring a bowl of cold water, a bag of burn herbs, and clean cloths.

Once we got the Zuko's room I had everyone but Iroh get out. I quickly started cooling down the burn, and making the ointment for it. I looked at him, placing another cool wet cloth on the burn. "Everything is going to be okay Zuko." I said. I could tell that he passed out from the pain after that.

(Time Skip/Zuko's P.O.V)

I was sitting up in bed while a servant changed the bandage covering my burn. Once they were done there was a knock on the door. "Come in." I called, the door opened and Yoko came in. The servant left and closed the door behind them. Yoko had a look on her face that I knew she had something on her mind. "What's on her mind?" She smiled softly at me as she sat in front of me of the bed.

"I got a letter from my Aunt that lives in one of the colonies... she's pregnant and she wants me to come and help her with the children before she has the baby." She answered. I felt of slight pang in my heart, when hearing this. I didn't want her to leave, especially now. "But I'll be back by the next new moon. So I won't be gone for long." We spent the entire day together, just enjoying each others company.

The next day I went with her to the palace gates. We stopped at the gates, holding each other's hand. I looked at her and smiled. I pulled her close and wrapped my arms around her, and she wrapped her's around me. "I'll be back soon... I'll miss you." She said looking up at me. I bent down and kissed her softly, when I pulled away I rested our forehands together. That was our first kiss.

"I'll be waiting for you... Come back safely." I said. She smiled softly before stepping away and walking through the gates and getting in the carriage that was waiting for her. I stood there and watched as her carriage disappeared into the distance.

I was walking back to my room when a servant came up to me. "Prince Zuko, the Fire Lord has called for you." They said. I nodded and left to the throne room.

Walking in I bowed and kept my head down as I spoke. "You called for me Father."

"Because of your actions and the dishonor you have brought, you are banished... To restore your honor you must find the Avatar, and bring him back alive." Father said. I nodded and left, I went straight back to my room, my heart aching. (I won't be able to see Yoko... What if she doesn't want me anymore by the time I return?) I thought, pressing my hands to my chest.

The next day I left. Uncle Iroh and a few soldiers came with me. (I'll see you soon, Yoko.) I thought as I pulled away the bandage, and a few tears fell from my eyes.
