My alarm for 12:30 pm had gone off and I was awake from my deep sleep. I had gone to bed last night at 9:30 pm but was awake until 11:00 pm.
As usual, my nights always had room for my thoughts. I had been staying up till 2 am in the morning. I was starting to think I had probably developed insomnia. I couldn’t care much. It wasn’t like I had school or work the day after and so I didn’t really mind staying up late and I quite liked the peace it often led me to.
Rushing up from bed to get to the restroom I grabbed my toothbrush along with me. I needed to freshen up and complete house chores before dad and mum came home for lunch. I honestly have had it with the scolding that my ears might just bleed if one more word left my mother’s lip.
As I took my last glance in the mirror and was pleased with my appearance, I made it straight to the kitchen to get food prepared. Heaven knows I am far from a great cook but I prayed and wished upon my lucky stars that they weren’t against me today.
“Well, look what the alarm kicked into the kitchen today...?” said Michelle, as she entered the kitchen with Kaden’s food in hand.
“I honestly have no time for your shit. I am already late as it is. Let me do my thing and I can get out. I do not have the energy to crack jokes and spark up conversations with mum and dad.”
Between us two, Michelle, who is one of my younger sister, cooks better and probably knows all ingredients and spices in the kitchen like the back of her palm. I, on the other hand was more fond with anything JUNK. I knew every single sweet like the back of my hand that I could literally tell the difference between a fake sweet or a real sweet.
“Admit it, you’re so against the topic on him these days.” She said as a matter-of-factly.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Mich. I just don’t have the energy to listen to whatever mum has got to say. That woman has put me in my place and won’t hesitate to do so even in the state I am in. So to do us all a favor and to save us the trouble of picking who gets to be the next on mum’s lecture, I’m going to take that nap I’ve been meaning to get back to.” I said uninterestedly.
“Oh! Speaking of the devil, she’s arrived with Dad. Please do me the honors at attending to them.” I said as I rushed back into the room after a couple minutes of preparing their lunch.
