Chapter 2.

THE MIND OF ANNIE: Vinny's Journal

There it was, the school. Not too rich, not too poor. Ordinary.

Vinny was minding his own business, walking down the hallway to get to his next class, like everyone else was. When suddenly, he was pushed, and fell back onto the floor. Above him stood Elaina, with her arms crossed. Next to her was Kees and Trey. She looked down at him with a cold glare. They all wore school uniforms.

Elaina: "Get out of my way, you're pathetic."

Vinny looked up at her.

Vinny: "I wasn't even in your way, I was walking to class. Don't push me like that."

Trey: "With that back talk, you're lucky we don't break your glasses, four eyes. Get up and get out of the way."

Kees: "Yeah! He looks like Harry potter if he had a mental breakdown!!"

Elaina: "Shut up Kees, no one likes you. Your insults suck."

Kees: "Hey don't be mean to me! Waaaaah! Waaaaaah!! I'm outta here, see ya!" Kees walked away.

They all laughed at him.

Vinny: "SHUT UP!!" Vinny yelled at Trey as he lunged towards him, in an attempt to hit him. Trey dodged and slammed Vinny into the locker, nearly knocking the breath out of him. Vinny grunted out of pain and fell onto the ground. He coughed.

Trey: "Try that again and see what happens. You're lucky I didn't do more."

Veronica and Liza suddenly appeared from the side, next to the wall. They were holding hands.

Veronica: "HAH! Honestly, what an idiot. Know your place here. You're nothing," she said while smirking.

Liza: "Sh-shouldn't we just leave him alone? He isn't in our way anymore.."

Veronica: "Hey, Liza. Take this coffee and pour it on that loser."

Liza: "B-but-"

Veronica: "Ugh, babe just do it!" She said as she grabbed Liza's hand and walked them over to Vinny. She put the coffee in Liza's hand and forced her to pour it on Vinny. Vinny tried covering himself, but it didn't do much. Coffee got all over him, and he was soaked.

Liza: "I-I..."

Veronica: "Good job babe!" she said to Liza, kissing her on the cheek. Liza blushed and smiled lightly.

Elaina: "Oh god, I hear teachers coming. Let's get out of here," Elaina said to everyone. They all walked away while giving Vinny dirty looks, and Veronica threw the coffee cup back at Vinny behind her, hitting him in the head with it.

FLASHBACK TO ANOTHER DAY:

Vinny had plans that evening. Although no one in the school exactly treated him well, there was one person he had hope in. Annie. She was quiet and didn't speak to him often, but she wasn't rude to him either. He was desperate, desperate for someone to like him or to show even the tiniest bit of kindness. Vinny knew Annie always stood near her locker after class. After class he walked up to Annie. She was holding her books and looking to the side, quiet, as usual. She noticed him and stared.

Vinny: "H-hey Annie.. How's it going..?" He said while scratching his head shyly.

Annie: "O-oh, hello Vinny. Do you need something..?" She said awkwardly.

Vinny: "I- I need to tell you something.."

Annie: "What is it..?"

Vinny: "I've been thinking...Unlike everyone else, you're pretty cool and nice to me..I feel like we have a lot in common.."
