One step at a time, I have heard that phrase a million times in my life but then again they say that old habits die hard and that we can multitask, so much right? All I could ever think of in this life is how I could become the best version of myself 'cause if I love me the more love I spread around and that's good for my soul.
"What are you thinking about Jo?"
"Sallie do you remember that project we thought we could start when we were in high school?"
"About opening a book store? having a café where people can chill in and read, a ballroom where people can enjoy dancing and a beautiful garden with all sort of flowers."
"Yeah, I was thinking we could implement it now that we are capable of doing it. You and I both have nice stable jobs so we could start on that plan. What do you think?"
"Do you have the time?"
"Yes, the students are going for their long break in two weeks, we can get things started by then."
"Great, so we write it out and look for a place to set it up. How hard can that be."
I was so happy that Sallie could remember everything we hatched up and also still want to do it with me. I had been thinking about it for a while now. We will just pitch it to Malcom and I'm sure he'd help us get the permits and licenses needed to do all that. Mum and uncle knew about it and they were ready to help me in any way but for starters I wanted to do this on my own first. So for the rest of the afternoon Sallie and I started building castles and imagining how the place would be. Things were getting wrapped up in campus and students were busier than ever because of the final exams and that gave me ample time to catch up on my work during school hours because there were no knocks on my office door after every hour.
"Okay Sall, see you tomorrow. I'll let you finish your work here."
I left Sallie's work place and headed to the coffee shop we frequented. I needed a strong stimulant so I got a mochaccino and cake to go with then sat quietly at a corner to work on my laptop. After an hour or so someone rudely interrupted my typing.
"Hey you," a lady in a flattering dress and a caked face called out.
Too much I'd say. I was baffled because I had never seen that face anywhere.
"Do I know you?" I asked
"You should keep away from Nick, he's already taken. You thought no one saw you during that party, you were wrong I sa..."
"You must be a lunatic 'cause only uncultured people shout out threats at strangers and accuse them baselessly you know, it doesn't suit well-mannered people."
"Did you just call me mannerless?"
"Your words not mine, but probably your brain can't comprehend that if at all you even have one. So before I rain hell down on you, clear off my sight real quick for I am not in the mood for this."
I looked her straight in the eye and dared her to bluntly say another word and she huffed and stomped out of the Cafe. Yeah that's what I thought. The nerve of some people!! How can you just come up at someone you don't know and start blubbering nonsense, nop not to me. It doesn't work that way. I suddenly laughed at how she huffed her way to the door, crazy woman. I wrapped up things on my laptop and left for home. I needed to relax. My phone rang interrupting my solitude.
"You didn't come in to work today Jo, what's up?"
"Ridge, are you keeping tabs on me now? I had an early lecture and left to discuss something with Sallie afterwards."
"Oh guess what?"
"What?"
"Im outside your building with some grilled chicken, fries..."
