Continuation of If/Then

Part 14

Meredith gave her a weak smile and walked out.

Later that day Meredith was walking down the hallway when she saw Derek. He was leaning against the wall looking beautiful.

Meredith strode up to him and said, "I need you for a consult, it's urgent."

She pulled him into an on-call room and slammed his body against the door and started to kiss him aggressively. 

"Mere-Meredith!" He said as he tried to escape her. "We shouldn't do this in the hospital. It's unprofessional."

 Meredith looked at him with tears building in her eyes. She knew he was lying because of the countless times they had been very unprofessional in this very on-call room. Meredith sat down on the bed and stared at the ground.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Derek asked quietly.

"I love you." Meredith responded.

"I love you too." He smiled at her.

"I am in love with you."

"I am in love with you too."

"Are you?" Meredith asked harshly.

Derek looked at her confused. "Yes. Of course I am."

"Then why won't you let me kiss you?!!" 

"What??"

"You haven't let me kiss you... or do anything else to you since.... Why won't you let me kiss you?!"

"I- I don't know." He shook his head and left the room. Leaving Meredith alone on the bed.

Ellis was strolling through her hospital when she heard muffled crying in a room. She opened the door of the room to order whoever was making all that noise to pipe down and get back to work. When she saw who was crying she became startled. Her daughter was not usually one of those silly emotional girls who broke down crying every day.

"Meredith? What's- what happened"

Meredith was too emotionally exhausted to lie to her mother, "I cheated on Derek."

"Oh."

Meredith got ready to get a long speech about how she was a whore and would never succeed if she continued to sleep with every man that walks.

"I happens." Her mother responded.

Meredith looked up at her mother confused.

"Cheating it's- cruel. But sometimes it just happens. The person you cheated with?"

"He was nothing. Some guy I met at the bar."

"Oh."

"It's just. I don't know if me and Derek will make it. He says we will but I just-"

"You will be okay. I've done worse than cheating to Richard and he never left me."

Meredith couldn't even comprehend the fact that her mother was comforting her.

"Th- Thanks mother."

"Now stop crying and get back to work." She said in a fake harsh tone.

After a very long and exhausting day, Meredith was ready to leave. She almost didn't want to because she dreaded having the conversation she most likely was going to have with Derek. He was going to tell her about how it pains him to look at her. And that he needs all this time to be able to actually forgive her for the horrible thing she did.

She gathered her things and walked towards the door. It was pouring rain and she of course didn't have an umbrella. She started to run out to her car. She halted abruptly about ten feet away when she saw the drenched shivering man leaning on her car.  

"Kiss me Meredith" Derek shouted against the rain.

Meredith walked slowly to the man. Once she reached him, he put his hands on her cheeks and pulled her into a deep kiss. Once they separated,  Meredith put her head on his chest and Derek wrapped his arms around her.

"I'm so sorry Meredith."

Meredith looked up at him, "for what?"

"I shouldn't have- I am just terrified."

She continued to look up at him as the rain splashed down on her face.

"I don't want to breath or move. I am so terrified that we are going to break if I do anything. I was just trying to keep everything still."

"We aren't going to break."

"I know. It's just- I always knew that if me and Addison broke. I would be okay. I didn't really care either way. But then when you suggested moving out, after... I just. I started to think about what would happen if we were to end. And I have never been so terrified in my life."

"Derek. I am scared too. But, I promise I will never leave you."

Derek sighed in relief, "thank you."

"Now you promise."

"What?"

"Derek. I said I am scared too. Promise you will never leave me."

Derek laughed lightly, "Ohhh. Meredith grey I promise I will never leave you."

Meredith smiled. 

"Though you're not going to start sleeping around again right?"

Meredith hit him.

"I'll do my best not to." Meredith quipped, "now lets get somewhere dry before we get sick."

"I was standing here waiting for you for half an hour so it might be too late." Derek said laughingly.

(Sorry I didn't write this yesterday. I was having a merder mental crisis so I couldn't write about sad merder. Also, if you want Merder to stay together I would recommend upvoting this. (Yes this is me blackmailing you))
