Surprise!

Fun fact I wrote most of this entire forthcoming story like two years ago, let it sit and forgot about it.

So as a reward, here's the first few chapters, rest of the finished book expected in the next few days. I hope that's a partial apology for falling off the face of the Earth since like 2023. Big girl responsibilities suck, you know?

Anyways, enjoy.

"Hey!"

"Hey, you!"

You turned around to face Admiral Resdox, raised an eyebrow and pointed to yourself. "Me?"

"Yeah, yeah, you!"

I have a name, you know.

"Hello, sir," you replied walking towards him. "Everything alright?"

Admiral Resdox pushed a bundle of rolled blueprints into your arms in his usual frazzled manner. "I need you to take these to Brance in the lower bunker," he said. "Usually I do it myself, but I've got my hands full."

"Funny, I don't remember being your personal assistant."

In fact, you were a Leiutenant. And yet you were addressed as 'you' and given jobs better suited for an errand boy.

Resdox scowled and placed his keycard on top the pile of tubes. "You're not," he conceded, "but I need you to do this for me."

You sighed and adjusted the tubes to secure them in your arms. "You got it."

Don't even have the decency to use my name but sure.

He gave your upper arm a light squeeze before taking off. "Thanks kid."

Not a kid either.

"Wait, where's-"

The Admiral was already gone.

He had told you Brance was in the bunker, but there was just one small issue—there were two bunkers, both with 3 levels. And you had no clue where Taslin Brance's office was.

-

You headed out of the base's main complex and started towards the bunkers. You figured that'd you start with Bunker Two since it was farther and more secluded. Seemed like the ideal environment for a quiet, introverted guy like Brance.

The hallways were congested like usual, people running here and there. Data pads and blueprints and files in hand, all headed for various destinations. The same rushed, busy sensation like there had been during battle. Only this time, people were rushing to get papers signed rather than blasters calibrated.

It felt strange now that the Resistance was no longer an active rebel army. Now it was a pseudo government attempting to reorganize the galaxy after the First Order's fall. Won the war, but now comes the real challenge.

The strangest part was not having the General anymore. The beloved Leia Organa was gone, and she was only survived by the rebellion she created—not by her husband, brother, or her son.

Ben Solo had made a reappearance at the end, and was actually the sole reason that the Resistance had won. The former Supreme Leader had single handedly defeated Palpatine in that last ditch, valiant effort.
