Project Helios

It was a Monday, there was an announcement for a new mission, I was excited and confident that I would get chosen for the mission. I heard a knock on the door, "Come in" I yelled as I was carrying all the paperwork for the mission. "Hey!" said Roger, "They want you in the conference hall" I kept the paperwork down on my desk and said "Be right there just give me a sec". Roger left my office and went to call the others. I went to the bathroom and freshened up and made sure I looked presentable. I took the elevator to the conference hall, I was nervous and also excited. I took a deep breath and entered the room. Everyone stared at me; I saw director Herb sitting there smiling at me. I went to the chairs which was meant for the astronauts and sat there waited for the arrival of the other twenty astronauts. I was so scared and nervous that I would not get picked to go for the mission as only three were going to get nominated for this mission. After arrival of the other astronauts and my friends Roger and Lucy who always thought I was the best astronaut ever and I deserved more chances. Roger and Lucy sat next to me on either side. "Aren't you excited Alessia?" Asked Lucy, I replied "Yes of course and also nervous." "Don't worry director Herb will obviously pick you, you're so amazing and such a great astronaut." Said Roger. "Thank you so much guys but I am not quite sure, there are a lot of level 9 agents and I'm only level 7." I replied in a upsetting tone. "I'm really sure you'll get this Alessia, don't you worry" said lucy. Director Herb got up from his seat and announced "Greetings ladies and Gentlemen, as you know the preparation for Project Helios has been completed; all that is left is to choose are the astronauts who will be going on this mission; And I have those amazing agents right here." My heart was beating really fast and I was so scared. " The agents are Agent Lucy Wilson, Agent Roger Krypton and finally last but not least Agent Alessia Robinson." Me, Lucy and Roger screamed and cheered with joy and excitement that we were going to go on this mission. We walked up in the front and said " Thank you for this wonderful opportunity and giving us this mission, we won't let you down!" Everyone cheered and applauded.

The day of the mission me, Lucy and Roger packed our essentials and headed inside the shuttle. We took a look at our hight tech space suits and the rest of the shuttle. Director Herb walked to us "Agent Wilson, Krypton and Robinson, take care of yourselves, watch each other's back and most importantly make us proud." Said Director Herb in a really wise manner.
" We will do so sir" I replied proudly. "What is the main objective of the mission?" Asked Roger, The director replied "you have two jobs; one is to absorb a little energy of the star Helios in the high tech solar absorber and two is to examine the energy levels, Temperature, Size, Age and the other important details." " Yes sir!" Roger replied firmly. We got in the shuttle fastened our seatbelts and prepared for the launch. The computer AI Sonia started the countdown " 10, 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 launch initiating." The shuttle lifted off in a very accelerating speed out of the earth's atmosphere and entered into space. We drifted along a Direction towards the star. "How far is the star from earth?" I asked to Lucy. " 40 million miles" she replied. " Ok guys jumping into light speed" announced Roger.
We jumped into light speed and we were gonna reach there in two minutes. We got our gear ready and we finally reached the star. "Ok, suit up Alessia; we will be dropping you in close to the Star." Said Lucy, I went wore my high tech astro suit and connected my suit to the ship and went in. "So I have to absorb the energy, right?" I asked, "Yep, we will be here and you will be ok" Said Roger in a confident tone. I stepped in and Lucy opened the door and I drifted in space towards the star, with the solar absorber in my hand; as soon as I reached the star I opened the solar absorber to absorb the energy. Meanwhile in the ship Lucy and Roger were reasearching more about the star "I have the temperature and mass of the star" said Lucy. "I have the reading of the energy levels and they are stable" After getting some diagnosis Roger noticed something "Um, Lucy" shouted Roger, Lucy who was in the tool closet yelled "Yes!" Roger replied "We have a problem, The energy levels are increasing and so is the temperature, The star is about to go supernova." Lucy in a panicking voice tried to contact me through the coms "Alessia, the Star is about to go supernova any second you have to get out of there now!" I could hear Lucy but I couldn't hear what she was saying, then I saw the energy levels and temperature rising on my tab and I realised that it was going to go supernova. I pressed the button to pull back to the ship, but before I could do that the star exploded and the energy went through me and I became unconscious.
