The First Day of Sophomore year

beep! beep! beep! I smack the top of my alarm as I rub the sleep out of my eyes. 6:30 am. Fuck. I drowsily roll out of bed and walk to my closet. It was the first day of school, and surprisingly, I was actually looking forward to it. This past summer was uneventful as I spent it with my boring old conservative grandpa. He obviously doesn't know I like boys, and if he did, the poor old fart would probably croak.

I smiled at the thought of it as I put a blue button up over my torso in front of the mirror. Wait...Do I look like a twink? I reluctantly put the button up back and settled for a dull green hoodie that easily hid my slim figure. Edgar always said my body was too pretty to be my own. Oh my god Edgar!! He was not only my cousin, but also my best friend ever since I can remember. A few years ago after the accident though, he became the person I live with.

After throwing on some ripped black skinny jeans, white shoes, and brushing my teeth, I go across the hall from the bathroom and knock on his door. No response . I decided to open the door, only to find him buried under a thick Spider-man comforter while clutching a large stuffed monkey. Goddamn his room is a mess. "Edgar wake the hell up you ass hat!! We're going to be late for the first day of school!!" He slowly opened his eyes and blinked at me all dumbfounded, and then I just watched as the realization hit. His eyes widened in terror and he started frantically looking for his glasses. I calmly grabbed them from his night stand and handed them to him as I rolled my eyes. "You clumsy ass. Hurry up and get changed I left some waffles in the toaster."

I walked out of his room and went to grab my stuff for school. While waiting on the couch, I decided to go check my Gristanam when I came across Michael's post from 20 minutes ago. The caption read, "Peed my pants that must explain the drip." God he is so stupid His humor was of a child's, and yet, for some reason I still manage to smile at the illogical thought of us ever being something. He might seem super extroverted online, but at school he always keeps to himself and always sits in his car during lunch so I could never get the chance to ever talk to him, unless our schedules matched up.

A muffled, "Sam start the car and let's go" interrupted my fantasies of ever getting to know that mysterious guy. I could hardly react as Edgar snatches my phone from my hands saying, "Ooooo what do we have here?? Oh my god Sammy, you still like Michael?!?!" He chuckled as I struggled to get my phone back and with a red face, I say, "Shut up, Edwing!! And stop calling me Sammy." I look back down at my screen only to realize that he had the audacity to go through and like every single one of his posts. The panic starts settling in as I hurriedly try to unlike his posts as if that would take back the notifications from his phone. Edgar practically had to drag me to the car because I was so embarrassed that the mere thought of ever facing Michael again made me so anxious I almost felt sick to my stomach.

Once we got to school, I accompanied Edgar to the locker rooms so he could drop off his gym bag. I was too anxious and wanted to make a good impression on the first day, so I decided to start walking to my class. "I'm gonna leave now, I want to get to my class early." Edgar turned to me with a suspicious look on his face and then we parted ways. As I picked up my pace walking through the halls, I look around for the Child Development class. I glance at my phone to check the room number, and just as I look down, a tall figure bumps into me. When we met eyes, his face turned all kinds of pink and red from embarrassment. His hair was shaggy and blonde, he wore a black face mask, and I could see his bright blue eyes piercing through his hair. Oh shit oh fuck its Michael what do I say!?!?
