Sworn Protector - Part I (ENG)

Note: I write this story when I was still in high school, so you will find it cringe; contain a lot of grammatical errors and maybe also contain a lot of plot holes XD.

But, anyway, please enjoy it! ^3^

I opened my front door, "I'm home!"

"Oh! Okairinasai, Hina!" My mom greeted me. "How was your school?"

"Great as always! Oh, okaasan, can I go to Sora-chan's house later? I promised I'll help her with her homework."

"Okay, but you must have a lunch first and remember to come home before dinner."

"Hai!" I replied then rushed to my room to get changed. After that, I have my lunch before went straight to Sora-chan's house.

Oops! Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. 

My name is Mamoru Hina; I'm a second year high school student in Toho High School.

I really, really, love my family and all of my friends, especially Sora-chan because she's my bestie. We have been best friend since we're still five years old, and our friendship still as great as it could ever be!

A few minutes had passed, I finally reached Sora-chan's house. I knocked the door, Sora-chan's mother greeted me and let me in. I thank her before went straight to Sora-chan's room. I opened the door and saw her along with Yuka and Hikari, my two others best friends.

"Finally! We are waiting for you, Hina-chan!" Sora-chan greeted me.

"Sorry, I'm late guys. I need to have lunch first."

"That's okay, Hina! We're just arrived a little while ago as well. Since we have all gathered, shall we begin our lesson?" Yuka said.

"Alright. We'll begin with math, is that okay?"

"Hai!" they're all replied in unison. 

Thus, our study group went until 5 p.m. We decided to hang out to the mall; spent another one hour laughing and having fun together; before waving goodbye and went home.

I reached home in time and have dinner with my father, mother and my oniichan. After that, I took a bath and went to study.

After a while, I looked at the clock and it showed 10 p.m, I decided to end my study session here and went to bed. But before I could lay my body on my bed, a white orb fly over into my room.

Surprised; I yelped and landed on the floor with a loud thud. I caressed my hurt bottom, and looked at the light which now had floating at the center of my room.

"What is that?" I asked, and thanks to my intense curiosity, I slowly made my way to the light. I examined it for a minute before reaching out my hand.

Dearest me, why do you need to be that reckless? Why you want to touch an unknown light orb without thinking? 

But it was to late. My hand already touched it. My breath hitched as I ready for the impact; explosion, or something dangerous like that. But nothing had happened, instead the orb flickered; before manifested into a man in white tuxedo.

My jaw went slack and I could felt my legs were trembling. I tried to move my body but it won't budge. I was frozen in place. 

"Do not fret, Mamoru Hina!" The man said as if he could feel my fears in the air.

I gulped, "Wh-who are you? H-how do you know my name?"

His greyish eyes glittered as a smile grew on his face. "My name is Zultor. And I know your name, because I'm always watching you." 

That made me more freaked out.

"Please, do not think anything bad from me. The reason why I observing you is...I want you to become a protector."

"A protector? What is that?"

The man put his hand on his chin, "Hmm, it would be best if you seen it with your eyes." before I could asked anything else, he snapped his fingers and all of my surrounding changed into a big white lobby which filled with a bunch of people wearing a black military suit, going in and out.

"Welcome to the Dauntless, The Protectors's headquarter. Allow me to give you a little tour". He said with the same smile as before. 

Having no choice, I followed him. He showed me around the HQ and it was enormous!

I can't describe all of the rooms, but I could pointed out several important rooms such as the lobby, it was the room where we appeared, and it used for registering mission and new member; training room; cabin; conservation and laboratory; library, astronomy tower, etc. 

During our walk, Zultor-san also told me about the Protector's duty.

"So, you protect earth - human - from alien?"

"Well, not only aliens, but everything that will caused harm for earth."

"Then, what do you mean by we will lose our identity?"

"When you decided to become a Protector, your existence on earth will vanished. Your family, friends and the other people who know you will forget about you, like you were never born."

I halted my tracks. Protecting people surely is a honorable job, but losing your identity? I don't wanna! Imagined when you walking alone in the street, then bumped into your bestie or family but, they didn't recognize you. It was awfully painful. And I don't want to experiencing something like that.

"I know its hard. But it has been our way of life."

"Could you tell me one thing? Why did you chose me?"

"The source of our strength, is the light of our heart. And you have a powerful one, Hina. That's why I chose you."

"I'm sorry, Zultor-san. But I....must decline your offer. I-is not because I don't want to, but I don't think I'm ready to be like you - erasing my identity, you know."

"I understand." He smiled sadly. "I won't pushed you. But, at least, please accept this. Think of it as a present from me." He took out a blue star shaped pendant from his pocket and put it in my hand. 

"When you need my help, just hold this pendant and call my name. I'll come immediately."

"Thank you, Zultor-san."

I was glad that he didn't mad at me.

He smiled. "Anytime. Alright, I shall take you home now." with a snap of his fingers everything went black. 

The second I opened my eyes, I was in my room. I sat up; looked around and asking myself if I had been dreaming all along? 

"Hina! Time's to wake up or you're gonna be late for school!"

I heard okaasan called me from downstairs. I looked over my alarm clock and realized it's already 6 o'clock. Jolted up from my bed; I rushed to the bathroom and do my morning routine. 

When I was going to brush my teeth, I looked at the mirror and realized the blue pendant hanging on my neck. Meant everything that I saw - meeting Zultor-san, the protector, the HQ - was all real.

"Hina! You're still not going to school!?"

My mom's yell brought me back to reality. I rushed finishing everything up; get dressed and went downstairs.

"Ittekimasu!" grabbing one onigiri, I run as fast as I could to my school; completely forgot about Zultor-san and the Protectors.

OMGOMG!

I know, I know, it's so bad. It's so cringey and too much data dump ><

I already did my best to cut some of unimportant sentences but, it still leave a lot words XP

So, I decided to put this story into two parts.

Anyway guys, this is one of my past stories. Am I ashamed of it? No. It was my creation, my children, and I'm proud of it. If I have time and mood to re-write it, I'll do it.

Besides, to improve one's writing skill, one must keep on writing down a story, right? XD
