Isabelle catch up part 1

What you are

A shadowhunter, you had been raised as a mundane all your life but what you only found out after meeting Izzy and everyone else was that your grandparents had been shadowhunters but had left Idris in pursuit of a normal life. Your mother had never known about this either since it happened before she was born so you found out when being introduced to the shadow world.

First date

"[Y/N], what are we doing here?" Isabelle asked when you arrived at the entrance to what looked to be a restaurant.

"We're going to be participating in a cooking class" you said with a smile as you turned to look at her.

"I'm sorry what, you know I can't cook?" Isabelle said as she looked at you in horror.

"I know, which is why this is the perfect opportunity to learn" you said with a smile before you opened the door and pulled the shadowhunter in by her arm before she had the chance to run away.

The bell above the door chimed as it closed behind you. A few seconds later a middle aged woman stepped out from behind a wall and smiled once she saw you.

"Welcome, grab yourselves an apron from the hook, we're just about to start" she said and gestured to a wall where the aprons hung.

She disappeared into the room behind the wall and left you and Isabelle alone. You took your coat off before you grabbed two aprons and handed one to Isabelle.

"[Y/N], I'm going to embarrass myself" Isabelle said as she took the apron from your hands and pulled it over her head.

"None sense, this will be fun" you said in a cherry tone as you took her hand in yours.

....

"Once you're done with chopping the onions, you have to start preparing the desert for it to have enough time to cook in the fridge" the woman instructed as you pulled a knife out to start chopping the onion.

You were occupied with your task when you suddenly heard someone cry out from behind you. You turned around and saw Isabelle coughing as she tried to swat away smoke coming from the oven.

She reached into the oven with the mits and pulled out the chicken she was in charge of cooking. You tried to muffle your laughs with your hand as you looked at the blackened chicken.

Isabelle turned to look at you with a mortified expression on her face. "Stop laughing it's not funny" she hissed.

And just as she had said that the smoke detectors went off and the sprinkler system turned on, and all of the other couples cried out in surprise. You laughed out loud as the water pursed down over you.

The woman holding the course walked up to your station. "I think it's best you two leave" she said clearly not amused at all.

Isabelle apologized profusely to the lady as she dragged you with her out the door and out into the noisy streets of New York. "Told you this was a bad idea" she said as she pushed her wet hair out of her face.

You had just recovered from your laughing fit and smiled at her. "Let's go back to the Institute and order some take out"

Isabelle smiled at your suggestion and entwined your fingers with her own. "As long as it's anything but chicken" she said as she turned to you with that same smile on her face.
