Heir to the Red Hearts

I ran the wind blowing my hair into my face. I could feel them catching up, yet I didn't know who or what I was running from but I had a feeling it was bad. I continued to run dodging tree branches and jumping over the roots that stuck out of the ground. I saw a cliff and sprint towards it. I reached the tip and jumped like I did every time and like every time before, right when I hit the water, I wake up abruptly. This has been happening lately. Like it's a sign telling me something was going to happen. Like every time before though I stayed quite and got ready for school.

After taking a quick shower I put on my uniform correctly and put on my glasses. I grab my satchel and run down the stairs to see that there was no sign my father had come out of his studio. I sigh walking into the kitchen and cook some eggs and bacon for myself. I quickly eat my food, then make a bowl of oatmeal bowl for dad, and sat it in front of the studio door, for him to eat, before leaving. Walking outside, hearing the honks of car horns and seeing the breath of people who walked by me, gave me comfort in the cold New York air. Having to take the bus to get to Cross Preparatory Academy for the Well Gifted wasn't so bad after living in the city all my life. Although it says that it's for the "Well Gifted" most students who attend Cross are students who can get their daddy to pay their way into the school. This also ends up meaning that most of the girls have their skirts high up and their button-up shirts opened up to show way too much cleavage.

Suddenly I bump into someone, causing my satchel to fall and my books to spill out of it. "Watch it Scholarship!" The boy who I had bumped into said before walking away. I guess you can figure it out, I am a scholarship student, so is my best friend Aurora. I walk up to my locker seeing her waiting. Aurora is a tall, pale girl with beautiful brown hair cut to her chin. Her minimal make up aloud her brown eyes to pop. Unlike Aurora I was an average height girl with long black hair and blue eyes. Unlike her too I was tan.

Aurora and I exchanged greetings and headed to class.

"Finally." I mumble to myself heading to the woods to walk a bit after classes. Classes where normal and that meant that they caused me to stress a lot. Sighing I started into the woods, the fresh air slowly blowing my stress away. After a while of walking, I stopped to rest at the roots of a tree. Slowly I drifted off to sleep.

Slowly waking up I hear rustling form a near by bush. Alert I stand up quickly and walk to the bush. There I see a white rabbit but it wasn't an ordinary rabbit. This rabbit had a trench coat on walking on its hind legs staring at a pocket watch. The rabbit was talking too though repeating one thing over and over. "I am so late, where is she?"

Though I was confused and scared I asked the white rabbit, "Who are you looking for?" The rabbit jumped up high the looked at me.

"Oh! Finally you must be Luna Phenix." He had an expression that I think would me a smile on a human. I stared at him my eyes big as he pulled me, how he had the strength I don't know but he did. We arrived at a stump in the ground where a beat up top hat laid. The rabbit let go of my hand and spun the hat around. The top hat began to glow and my curiosity got the best of me and I stepped to look into the hat. All of the sudden a hand reached out and pulled me into the hat. Screaming so much I blacked out.

My head was throbbing yet I didn't know why. All I could remember was my weird dream about falling into a top hat. Groaning I sit up and see bright blue walls. With my eyes furrowed I say, "Where am I?"

"Your at the white palace." Someone says, confused I look over to see someone who makes me feel even safer. "Aurora!" I say quickly and stand up but my head ach gets the best of me and I stumble backwards on to the bed.
