Liz limped up the stairs, the pain climbing out towards her chest and arms, like tentacles. She unwrapped the crimson fabric from her stomach, revealing a deep gash and blood. It did look pretty bad in the mirror. "That's pretty deep," drawled a voice behind her. The reflection in the mirror of a tall female sprawled on the bed.

"Get out," Liz whispered in a pained voice, "please."

She turned around facing the person she hated her whole career. Astrid smirked, rising off the bed, but instead of leaping out the window, she took a step towards Liz. The wounded soldier back away, almost tripping on the mirror. A laugh fell from Astrid's red lips as she kneeled in front of her and carefully unwrapped it. She noticed Liz flinching and hissing at the pain.

"Wow, you should lay down," Astrid said, "You must be off your game. I never expected that."

The bed was not so far, but it seemed like miles away. Still, blood dripped from the open wound. Liz rolled her eyes and laid down, "Why should I trust you?"

"Do you see anyone else around to help you with your little ouchie right here?"

Astrid took cream out of her bag and started cleaning the wound. "What happened?"

"It was nothing" Liz mumbled, wincing when the cream ran over her stomach. "I'm not gonna ask again. What happened?" Astrid said quietly, in a dangerously quiet voice. Why was she worrying so much? Liz thought.

"It was in a battle, I was fighting one too many people and someone stabbed me. It's nothing really." Liz explained, "Do you know Evan Lithmore? He did it." Something changed in Astrid's eyes that moment. Like she had a new goal to achieve. Her grey eyes sharpened like a hawk zeroing in on prey.

"Oh, okay," was all Astrid said. Liz's eyes were getting a bit droopy and she drifted to sleep quickly. When she woke up, Astrid was gone as though she had never been there in the first place, there was a jar of cream sitting on the vanity. Sitting up, she grunted a bit. "Liz, come here quickly!" her mom shouted, "Have you heard the news? Evan Lithmore was found dead last night."
