Chapter 5

The rest of the night went on; I soon finished my talk with Blake because of his mum and retired to my room... 'Why does the first day for a new kid always has to be tough?' I thought to myself falling on my bed and closing my eyes... I remember Melody's first day...

It was around the middle of the year when we moved closer to my school, but Melody had to switch schools... I remember her coming from school that day with a black eye and a bloody nose. Mum wasn't home, she had work. As for dad... He died a month before we moved, from a fire to be exact... I rushed to her side, asking if she was okay and what happened. She refused to tell me, or even let me check how serious she had been hurt. I kept asking what happened, and she finally broke. Melody ran up to her room, faster than the speed of light, tears streaming down her face, and I was standing there...

I went to the kitchen grabbed a bag of frozen peas from the freezer, after I slowly walked up to her room. I polity knocked on her door, waiting for her to let me in, but she kept yelled at me to leave her alone. I finally just let myself in; luckily we don't have locks on our doors, and sat next to her on her bed. She was crying into her pillow, mumbling 'Why?’ constantly...

I gently put my hand on her back, and she flinched... Melody took a little glance over the pillow, looking at me... I wiggled the bag of peas in front of her eyes and she sat up straight. She grabbed the bag and put it on her blackened eye... I asked what was wrong, but she just kept quiet, making slight sobbing sounds.

I asked once again, and she looked over at me and sighed. She told me everything. How the boys and girls were teasing her, how one of the popular boys pushed her very hard into a locker and she fell on the ground, how everyone laughed when she got hurt, and how she was up against 10 girls who bashed her up. That's how she got the black eye and blood nose.

After she told me everything, I told her they were just jealous and want to be you, they love everything about you and they envy that. She took it in and I told her that tomorrow is going to better. I gave her a big hug to say everything is alright... Melody made me promise never to tell mum, so we just put makeup on her eye to cover it up. That was one of many things we have done together...

After that mini flash back, I had a quick shower and changed into my pajamas... I got Melody to go to her room and go to bed, but I really doubt that she would listen to me. I went to my room, put my earphones in and played "Wish You Were Here" by Delta Goodrem, and started on my homework. After finishing my quick homework I went on my laptop, and check what's up with everyone... I looked over at my clock, '10:30' it read...

I logged on to FaceBook and found a new friend invitation... "Chris Crown?" I smiled to myself, clicking accept! Next thing I know I get a message... I look at the corner of my laptop and smiled...

It seemed to be Chris, "How's that beautiful smile of yours Amelia?"
