she caught steve walking in the room, taking a quick glance at him. he stood at the doorway, watching.

"you guys are good to go, i'll be seeing you all again on tuesday with sergeant barnes at 9am." there were a few "have a good day" and "see you later" from the group as they dispersed. they walked past steve, the group saying hello to captain rogers. alexa tucked a stray hair behind her ear, not wanting to fix her ponytail.

"how'd they do?" steve finally spoke up, alexa walking towards him. she smiled, steve opening the gym door for her. the two walked down a long hallway to the exit of the building to head back to the compound.

"they did good. i went a bit easy on them because they're training with natasha for the first time tomorrow," she noticed the smile that laid on his lips, steve opening the front door for her again.

"well, we gotta beat em' into shape don't we?" "yes we do captain."

they got into the car, and made the short drive back to the compound. the door to the garage opened, steve turning into his parking spot.

"wanna know what's weird?" alexa started talking, steve turning off the ignition. he looked over at her, eyebrows raised in confusion.

"what?" "we haven't had a mission in a long time. that's a little suspicious if you ask me. i don't think the bad guys decided to turn good all of a sudden."

the two stepped out of the car, making their way to the elevator to head to the main floor.

"honestly it is, yet a break from missions is always a good thing." she nodded in agreement, the elevator doors sliding open. the two went their separate ways to their own rooms, alexa seeing bucky causally laying in her bed with the tv on.

"hi dollface, how was training? bucky asked, sitting up as alexa leaned forward to meet bucky in the middle for a quick kiss.

"hey buck, it was tiring, but good." she took her hair out of the ponytail, and grabbed her towel for a shower. she smiled as she made her way to the bathroom, looking over her shoulder with a smirk. bucky swiftly got out of bed and followed her into the bathroom, shutting the door behind them.

the couple laid in bed, it being almost one in the morning. bucky's eyes fluttered closed as alexa ran her fingers through his hair.

"how long do you think we'll be doing this superhero stuff for?" bucky asked out of nowhere, alexa letting out an exhale.

"i don't know honey. i know i do wanna step back from all of this at some point in the future. why do you ask?" bucky looked up at her, their eyes meeting.

"i don't know. i was just thinking about the future and us when you were gone earlier today." she smiled softly, bucky's head moving off her chest to rest on his pillow so they were now face to face. she smiled, intrigued now.

"tell me what you want our future to be like." bucky smiled sheepishly, shaking his head. she gasped jokingly, lightly hitting him.

"buck baby come on! i wanna know!" she laughed, bucky shaking his head with a smile on his lips.

"okay okay fine," she smiled, bucky thinking for a moment before talking again.

"maybe a nice little house in brooklyn with a white picket fence surrounding the property. we'd have a dog and a cat, maybe even a kid or two who knows. it's just, before the war, i did wanna settle down with someone and have all that. i wasn't sure before if i still wanted it, but i'll be okay with anything as long as it's with you."

alexa swore she felt her heart burst, a grin on her face.

"steve would definitely wanna be godfather, or he'd fight tony and sam for that. nat and wanda would definitely fight for godmother. we'd probably have a small, private wedding. just the team, keep it out of the press, even though tony would accidentally let it slip and pepper would have to cover it up." bucky laughed, the two smiling softly at one another.

"i didn't know you thought about this kinda stuff." bucky admitted, alexa's cheeks turning a light red.

"it's something i used to try and not think about. i guess until i realized how in love i am with you i really started to put some thought into the future. i know for a fact that i'm so committed to this relationship, so future us is definitely something i think about nowadays." she watched as bucky's smile grew, his cool hand going to cup her left cheek, thumb rubbing against her cheekbone.

"i'm so in love with you too." bucky leaned towards to kiss alexa, softly, slowly, and passionately. he broke the kiss for a moment, their foreheads resting against one another. she smiled, her hand going to run through his hair.

"i hope the future treats us well. i really do want all of that with you james." "me too sugar, me too."
