Ulthar The Ancient

Chapter 1

It was a normal Saturday morning. I'd slept in rather late, not waking up until around 10. I awoke to my mom leaving for work, telling me not to waste the day away. I rolled over in my bed and grumbled "sure mom". Now that I was already awake, I knew there was no chance of falling back asleep. Instead, I turned on the tv to relax while breaking myself of my sleepy demeanor. Suddenly, there was a gentle scratching at my door, followed by the door gently swinging open. My tv blocked my sight, but a moment later I saw my cat Mr. Meyers walking around the dresser my tv-sat upon. Meyers was a small gray Siamese, he had gentle green eyes, a dark face, and a long dark gray stripe down the center of his back. My nickname for him was 'Thumbs', on account of him having 5 toed paws. Meyers loved to sit with me and watch tv (usually from the comfort of my chest) while being showered with affection. I smiled a bit, seeing him come towards my bed, easily making the two-foot jump from the floor. He stood between my legs and seemed to be looking me over. I thought nothing of this, as he was a rescue, he still had some anxieties from time to time. I gently patted the area of my bed in between us, trying to coax him over, but he didn't budge. Something seemed off, so I leaned out to pet him when suddenly his eyes started glowing bright neon green. I backed away in disbelief and rubbed my eyes, making sure this was no dream. As the door suddenly slammed shut, my gaze was seemingly stuck looking into his vibrant eyes. Mr. Meyers then began to speak in a posh, tenor voice "Mortal. Your time has come, I've deemed you worthy of the privilege of knowing my true identity. I am far more than the cat you see before you. Some have called me their God, others, their destruction. I am the Ancient One many know as, Ulthar. Through your service, I have come to understand a bit better how you humans act. Throughout my time in this form, I have seen the full spectrum of humanity. You humans, you're a rather peculiar species. I have decided that you in particular mortal, are to lead my mew cult."
