Grey hair. Grey eyes. Pale skin. The only thing special about Suga was the small mole under his eye. Other than that, his height was normal, his serve was normal, his jump, his laugh, anything and everything about Suga was normal. And that's why Suga hated himself. Everyone else on the team was special in a certain way. Hinata has super-human speed and agility; Daichi was good at practically everything and is strong, not to mention he's the backbone for mostly everyone on the team. Everyone was special, but him.
He's barely played in any match. All he's good for is cheering the others on. He was better off not on the team at all.
Suga's head swarmed with these thoughts as he sat on the bench during Karasuno's practice match. His eyes were fixed on the volleyball he was holding. He paid no mind to the match in front of him.
"Suga. What's on your mind?"
Daichi's voice broke him out of his thoughts.
"Oh Daichi. Is the match over already?"
"Yeah..it uh, ended a couple minutes ago actually."
"Oh."
"You alright Suga?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking about the team y'know."
Though Suga assured Daichi that he was ok, his condition grew worse. He often found himself outside, or in the wrong classroom. Once he was standing in a parking lot. Daichi found him on the way to practice and pulled him from his thoughts once again before he could get hurt.
It only seemed really bad when he got to an actual match. His ears buzzed, his eyes were blurry and he couldn't think straight.
Why am I here.. Suga thought. I can't help them. I'll make them lose, if I play Karasuno they will lose. Then Asahi and Daichi won't get to play anymore. It'll be my fault. My fault-
"Suga?"
He looked up and saw the concerned faces of everyone else on his team.
"You don't look good Suga." Coach Ukai said. "Do you want someone to take you to a nurse? You can sit out and rest for the game."
"I already sit out most of the time anyway." Suga spoke without realizing it. He quickly spun around to be faced by Ukais shocked expression that slowly morphed into one of concern harbouring a sympathetic glint in his eyes.
"Suga-"
"I know what you're thinking Suga!" Daichi interrupted. "You are not a burden on this team! You're a great big support pillar ok?! Without you watching us, we wouldn't play at our best because we know you're not there to cheer us on."
"But that's all I'm doing Daichi! All I'm doing is sitting there and cheering you on!!"
But his complaints were drowned out by the other members, adding how great of a person he was, on and off the court. Soon enough, he couldn't bare much more, and broke down into tears. Everyone in the team gathered around him, hugging him tightly.
