So I'm also an artist, for those who've just joined the party, and I've toyed with the idea of turning this book into a graphic novel at some point. Still don't know if I will, but here's an art dump of everything I've doodled/painted to date.
First up: Character Studies. Clockwise from top left: Angharad, Geraint, Eilwen, and Elen.
Next up: sketch progression of chapter 12 makeout. (Yeah it's my favorite, too, you got me.)
Angharad costume concepts, left: ceremonial robes; right: riding tunic, good for spying on the hero while he's swimming.
More concepts. Left: tunic for climbing/hiking and freaking out your bf, right: castle loungewear, not recommended for running out into thunderstorms unless you've got a hot guy at the end of that trail, willing to take it /cough/...uh, dry you off.
Random romantic pose. Not my best, I did this before I added the moonflower lore, but there we go.
And of course, you've seen this one before, my lovers sharing a moment ar lan y môr.
Congratulations! You finished this tome!
For those who did not read the disclaimer in my summary, this story is fanfiction.
Yes. You have been tricked into reading fanfiction. I hope it was as enjoyable as original fiction, and that your appetite may be whetted to learn more about the world that inspired it. Should you be so inclined, you can do so by reading my novel Sunrise, here on Wattpad, in which you will discover more about what eventually happens to the child whose conception formed a plot point in this story.
Sunrise, is, itself, a fanfic adaptation of The Book of Three, which is the first book in the series The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander.
I highly, highly recommend checking out this series, which has been around since the 1960s, is a Newberry-award winner, and has been adapted once (very badly) into a Disney animated feature, whose name I will not utter here because it isn't worthy of being written in the same paragraph as the books.
The series was inspired by the saga contained in the collection of ancient Welsh myth known as the Mabinogi, which is why the names, geography, and some plot elements are so welsh-flavored. The books are quick reads but full of pathos, humor, and wisdom, and are appropriate for all ages - I find elements of them even more meaningful as an adult than I did as a youth.
You can find them in libraries, some bookstores, and in online booksellers. Do check them out; you will be glad you did.
My humblest thanks to readers who stuck with me throughout! This story became very precious to me in the telling, and it ranks high in works I am proudest of.
Thank you for reading!
