In the afternoon we were getting ready to go out. I have no idea where we will go, but I'm not super excited. All I want to do is just take a break and sit at home, doing nothing. I've been living in stress since I escaped.

- You seem worried. - Cypher whispers, walking right beside me. - What's on your mind?

- I don't know what I'll see there. I don't know what they'll think of me.

- Don't worry too much. - he giggles. - Whatever will happen, they'll take you in.

- Why?

- Cause we need more agents.

His voice sounded more serious now. What does he mean?

- Recently we noticed some... disturbance. It's worrying. - he answers as he'd be reading my mind. - We're not alone now.

I don't know what to say. I only listen, maybe he'll continue. But he doesn't add anything, just stays silent. What he said worried me as well. What does he mean we're not alone? Wasn't it just getting into the old base of Kingdom, stealing gems and getting out?

It seems not.

After an hour of walking and two hours of riding in a car, we finally reach our destination. In front of me is standing a tall, glassy skyscraper. It's breath-taking. It actually reaches beyond the clouds, high, high in the sky. I wish I could stand on its peak.

- Somebody's never been to a city, hm? - Cypher giggles, standing behind me.

- I have! - I cross my arms, acting offended. - Many times before. You won't find a lot of loot to steal in villages.

- Good to know... - he whispered, smiling under the mask, of this I'm sure.

I smiled, really enjoying his company. I bet it'd be boring with Sage, not that she's not cool and all, but she's really formal. With this man you can tease each other. Why doesn't he have a wife?

We enter, and I immediately scan everything around. What I see is outrageously impressive; glassy elevators, more than thirty floors, and all decorated with white quartz. Everyone moves synced, each one holding a pile of documents or serious-looking bags.

I feel a pull from my left, and by an inch I avoid bouncing into somebody.

- Look ahead, not up. - he giggled, clearly amused by my behaviour. - Amazed, aren't you?

- I am! Have you seen these shiny desks?

- Desks, really? - he says, surprised.

- Or these elegant lamps? Look at them!

- Oh, yeah, wow.

- Can we get in the elevator, please? I wanna go up!

- Um, sure. - Cypher really seems shocked by the fact I'm so excited; I wasn't at all three hours ago.

We get in the elevator and go up.

- It goes up so lightly... - I whisper, looking down at people becoming smaller and smaller.

Unfortunately after a moment we have to get out. While walking through a long corridor, I observe people walking here. All of them are serious, focused on their tasks. I don't impress them.

Cypher opens the door for me and lets me in. He puts a hand on my back to lead me to the chair and lets me sit.

- Why are we alone?

- Just wait. - his blue pupil winks at me, and I feel a chill through my spine. Probably my electricity going crazy again. We sit like that, in silence for a few minutes.

I hear steps from my back, so I turn my head slowly and look up.

- Morning, recruit. - The huge man says. He looks like grandpa.

- Uh... mornin'. - I reply, not really sure what I should say to this big man.

- I'm Brimstone, your commander.. I'll introduce you to everyone and help you practice.

- So my part's over? - Cypher says, standing up.

Wait, what?

- What do you mean? - I quickly ask.

- I only did my bit. I caught you, brought you here and took a short care of you, made sure you won't run away. - he flips his trapwire between fingers.

- I thought you'll lead me? And help me figure things out-

- No, that's not my duty.

So it all was temporary, he was just doing his job. Why did I even think we could have a bit stronger bond; he clearly doesn't want any friends. He just cares about doing his job. I could notice that earlier.

- See you, Sparkle. Have fun training. - he waves and simply walks out.

I sit without a move. He didn't even care to look behind himself to see me once more, just out of curiosity. Brimstone clears his throat, trying to draw my attention to himself.

- Shall we start? - I hear his deep voice.

After talking about my background, abilities and preferences, he finally leads me out. There's no sign of Cypher, like he'd have vanished. I clench my teeth, trying to think of something else. Why did I even think we can become friends? I feel like someone would've betrayed me, although we've known each other since yesterday. And we didn't meet in the best circumstances. You can easily tell, too.

When we stop at one of the door, I feel some weird aura coming from it. That's where Brim stops and points at the door.

- There, you'll find people who are like you. The Radiants.

I nod, ready to come in. When the door opens, the first person to meet me is white haired Korean girl.

- Hi. - I say only, and many eyes look at me at the same time. I gulp, not feeling so confident now.

- Hey, I'm Jett. - smiles the girl who opened the door. - And you're Laria, hm?

I nod, cracking a smile.

- That's me.

- Next Radiant? How sweet. - I hear slow, dangerous voice behind the girl. - Call me Viper.

- Nice to meet you. - I bow my head slightly, and in answer she nods only.

I see many other people, Radiants but not only. Also normal people, who just used a bit of radianite in their gadgets.

When we all start talking, I immediately feel like at home. That's the place I belong.

With these people.
