The Maze Games

Chapter 1

I'm suddenly awakened by my younger sisters cry. I rush over to her bed and comfort her. Annalise is scared easily and also very sensitive.
"Sh." I say soothingly.
I start singing a song that always calmed her when she was younger.
"Lay down your sweet head, close your eyes.
When you awake the sun will rise.
Sweet one, close your eyes.
All your dreams come true"
When she falls asleep I can't go to bed so I stay awake thinking about tomorrow. Reaping day. The worst day of every family's lives. 4 children 2 males and 2 females from each group will be sent to The Maze Games.
The Maze Games is just for entertainment. The kids will run around a maze and fight. There is 6 groups, 4 tributes from each, 24 tributes. You can team up with one tribute from your group. The maze is decorated to look like a forest with dangerous wild life and non-dangerous wild life. My family and I lost my older brother in the games. He was tough, strong and we all thought he would win. But sadly he didn't.
My family and I were devastated. The death of my brother caused my dad to commit suicide. That was also a very sad day for us.
So,now my family is my sister, my mom, me and an old horse.

Today is reaping day.
A lady with pink hair, neon pink eyes and lots of makeup announces who will be sent to the games.
I stand patently but nervously as I wait for the 4 tributes names to be called. Group
"Boys first!" The lady says .
The whole group becomes silent.
"Jonah Roth" The lady says with joy.
Jonah Roth? Oh my god. He has been my crush since...forever! I start to get sweaty palms and I start to get scared.
"Come on up Jonah" Says the lady smiling at him as he makes his way up to the podium.
"Okay next boy. Silas Eversmith" Says the lady.
Silas comes up to the podium quickly and happily.
"Okay. Now for the girls!" The lady says sticking her hand into the jar with all the girls names.
"Mianessa Paradella"
My face turns red and I start to cry. I have to get dragged up to the podium. I look down at the rest of my group then I look at my sister and my mom. I see them crying especially Annalise. I wave my hand her to say bye.
"Okay next girl"
"Ocean Dramada" Says the lady sadly.
Ocean Dramada. She is my best friend! Oh no I'm going to have to kill my crush, Silas or Ocean. This is a hard choice. Silas? I don't even know him. Jonah? He is my crush, I've loved him since forever. Ocean? She is my best friend, like a sister to me! When I'm in the maze I'll choose.

We are sent to a room where we wait to load a train. I look over to Ocean and move closer to her. I lean on her shoulder and cry.
"You okay Mia?" She tries to say soothingly.
"I don't know" I say crying.
I look at the door and see the GroupGaurds coming to lead us to the train.

I sit in the train and keep on looking over at Jonah. He is always staring at me with his gorgeous blue eyes. He gets up and walks to me.
"Hello Mianessa" He said blushing.
I giggled a little and pushed my dark hair behind my ear. "It's Mia actually, but hi Jonah"
He smiled "Okay then. Hi Mia"'he said with a laugh. "You look very beautiful today" he said blushing.
I blushed a lot "Thanks"
"May I sit beside you?" He asks politely.
"Of course" I say scooting over.
I look out the window of the train and look at my reflection in mirror just to make sure I look okay.
"So Johna..." I say smiling.
"Mia..." He laughed.
