Dear Erwin,

Hange told me last night that I shouldn't even bother with this letter; that the Scouts would be back before the end of the week. They're probably right, but I think I write these letters more for myself than you. It's selfish, but I love watching you read them each time you come home to me. I wish I was a better writer, though. I know you try to hide it but I can tell every time you come across a grammar mistake because you lift the letter up to hide your furrowed brow and smile.

Y̶o̶u̶ n̶o̶t̶i̶c̶e̶ s̶t̶u̶f̶f̶ l̶i̶k̶e̶ t̶h̶a̶t̶ w̶h̶e̶n̶ y̶o̶u̶ l̶o̶v̶e̶ s̶o̶m̶e̶o̶n̶e̶. We should have all of the scouts over more often. You weren't kidding when you said that Levi really babysits his new squad, I don't think those kids could go 5 minutes without arguing over something. I can tell he has a soft spot for them, though. They're like the younger siblings, cute but annoying. Also, stop playing favorites. Talking strategy with Hange and Armin all night was not as sexy to me as you think it is. Armin's a smart kid, and he's gonna eventually notice that you favor him, so wait until he at least becomes Lieutenant or something.

I think I'm rambling, now. I'm nervous, and I have a bad feeling about retaking Shiganshina. I know you ordered me to stay behind, but a part of me wishes I was there with the rest of the scouts. With you. You were almost late this morning because you stayed with me. The affection isn't...unwelcomed, but I know there's something else on your mind.

Tell me when you get back.

Yours,

Elsi
