That day, two years ago, I never would've guessed I'd be here in New York. The city of dreams, right?

It all started two years ago, sometime late august when I won over the heart of Tom Nook. Well... that was a stretch, but that's certainly where it began.

You see, it didn't start off as much of a relationship. It was originally hot, passionate sex in the back of my cabin, and then it was quick flings at resident services late at night, but eventually there came a day where neither of us could handle the tension.

I cracked first of course, falling to my knees, sobbing; I'd asked for something more between us, but I was nervous and shy. He said yes, of course, but I couldn't help but feel so nervous I vomited.

Our first date was slow, quiet, and the air reeked of anxiety. We went to dinner of course, talking about everything that came to mind; work, the island, Timmy and Tommy, everything.

Those were certainly fond memories to look back on, but here in the present, there were so many memories yet to come.

Together, Tom and I live in a cozy, second-floor Alcove Studio. I spend most of my time at the office working, but still find myself home more often than Tom; He's a busy man, no longer working on the island and now opting to work at a high-end insurance company here in New York.

By now, of course, I've given up that childish dream of mine. Of course, that dream of happily caring for an island alongside Tom, couldn't last forever. Besides, it didn't need to.

The two of us agreed we'd be happier here in America, the land of freedom, working diligently. After all, the capitalist lifestyle was one to die for, or so my unsupportive parents had told me.

The past two years have been spent well. After moving from the island, we initially travelled - even going so far as to almost settling down in Paris once.

Oh how I do hope Tom will take me back to Paris.

The roadbump in our relationship occurred early last year, after Tom had come home late and I'd had a few drinks. It was clear he'd had drinks of his own that evening and there was an unfamiliar stench coating his own.

Since then, we don't talk about that Night.

Since then, I started going to bed earlier.

We don't have to avoid talking about the time he comes home at, if I'm sleeping.

I don't have to think about it when I'm sleeping.
