"Emma come on! The truck is leaving soon", my mom shouts from downstairs. I groan. "I'll be down in a minute!", I yell back at her. I slowly get up from my sleeping bag. I look around my childhood bedroom, once filled with so many memories, now completely emty, aside from my sleeping bag, and me. The sight brings tears to my eyes. I've grown up here! This has been my room since I was a baby! I've never had to move once. A wave of resentment washes over me as I think about how my dad just left our family for some 20 year old slut he met at a bar. It's his fault we have to move. This is all his falut, and I hate him for it. I think about how I have to leave all my friends behind. How they will probubly forget about me in a few years. How now I have to go from a small town in Minnesota to a big town in California. I know most people would probubly be happy if they got to go live in California for the rest of their lives. But I'll be starting highschool as a junior in a school where I know nobody. I'm terrified.

"Emma you have five minutes before the truck and I leave withought you", my mom informs me loudly from downstairs. "Ok I'm coming!" I shout to her. I roll up my sleeping bag, slap on some makeup, put my heair in a messy bun and slip on some sweat pants and uggs. I take one last glance around my room. I leave quickly to make it less painful. My mom is waiting for me when I get down the stairs. "Honey I know this is painful. I don't want to leave either. But I think it will help us move on." She says to me. "No, what would help me move on is if I had my friends to comfort me." I snap back at her. She gives me a sad look. She looks like she's going to say something but  then desides not to and walks out the door. I take a look around our empty house. I can't believe we are leaving this place. Finally I walk out the door and close it behind me. I will never see this place again.

I hop into the car with my mom as we follow the moving van. It will be driving all the big stuff to California while the rest of the stuff is either already there or on a plane there. We are flying there. The airport is about an hour away so I put in my earbuds and lay my head on the window. I don't sleep, but I find that looking out a car window is when I do my best thinking. But today all I can think about is my old house, my old school, and my old friends. It's one of the worst car rides I've ever been on. I try texting my best friend but she doesn't reply, which is understandable since it's only 7:30 in the morning. Finally after a long and boring caride, we get to the airport. There isn't a lot of people there so we get through the lines and security very easily. We get to our gate with about a half hour to spare. I don't really feel like talking to my mom so I put in my earbuds and close my eyes.

I'm startled awake by my mom shaking my shoulders. I take out my earbuds. "Emma it's time to board the plane" She says to me. I sigh as I gather my stuff and we board the plane. It's about 15 minutes before we begin takeoff and the flight attendants do their bit and we are finally in the air. It's a 7 hour flight so I decide to sleep the whole time. I lean my chair back and drift off. After about six hours I wake up and see that my mom is sleeping next to me. The pilot announces that there is about an hour left of the flight. I'm wide awake with nothing to do. I glance around the plane. As I'm looking around I see this guy walking up the aisle. He doesn't notice me but boy do I notice him. He is about the most attractive guy I have ever seen! Everything about him is beautiful, from his ocean blue eyes to his sandy blonde hair. I watch him go to his seat but unfortunately he has a window seat so I can't see him anymore. I text my best friend. "So this whole moving thing is totally a bummer, but on the bright side I just saw THE MOST gorgeous guy on the plane. 10 times cuter than any guy in our school. So that brightened my mood a bit ;)"

As I'm daydreaming, my mom stirs besides me and then wakes up. I say hi to her and we begin to talk for a while. Then the captain announses that we will be landing in about five minutes. So we gather our stuff and get ready to land. Once we are back at the airport, we get our bags and meet the car we ordered to pick us up.  The driver drives us to our new house which is about 2 hours from the airport. After two hours the driver announces that we are on our street, and the house will be on our right. I look out the window and prepare myself to see the house that will start my new life.
