Grey
*introduction
It was a dreary night in december. Grey had just got off the phone with their boss from their boring office job. They got scolded for working too much, believe it or not. Grey had no other life besides the mind numbing job and a dingy new york city apartment so they wasted away their life at work. Grey didn't even have any other lives to worry about. No plants, no pets, no family, no friends. Quite depressing, yes. They lived so alone they basically were living dead. Grey had gotten used to being alone. But when you reject everything good in life that comes to you you get a new mindset. Grey favored living a dead life. You see, Grey once had plants and a pet and family and friends. But something happened that changed their whole life into the dreary melting pot of misery that it was and caused them to savor this. Here's the story.
*chapter 1
2 years earlier, in junior year of college
"Yo Grey!" A boy who was skateboarding by waved over to Grey, who was out for a walk around the campus. He did a cool kick turn dismount in hopes of flexing his new trick to his friend Grey, who also skated. His face was adorned with a sly grin to go along with it. "Sup Claren," Grey replied. "Looking sharp as always, I see." It was obvious Claren had no care at all for his appearance, dressed in a navy tshirt and sweats with his brown hair up in a loose bun. He wore some form of this exact outfit every day. It became sort of a staple in Grey and Claren's friendship because Grey was the opposite, they had to perfectly plan out their fit every day and they liked to make fun of Claren for his minimal efforts. But despite Claren's lacking fashion taste he made up for it in looks and personality. He always had people's attention whether he wanted to or not.
Grey was also somewhat popular too, mainly from being best friends with Claren and hanging out with the skaters. Grey didn't understand it but the girls seemed to have a thing for skater boys. Grey was actually trans, using they/he pronouns. They transitioned female to male around middle school. Their family and friends were supportive, although most people at their school just thought of Grey as a boy, which didn't bother them anyways. Grey wasn't too bad looking themself. They didn't have any dating experience however, they're more on the introverted side. "Grey where you going?" Claren asked. "Just out for a walk. What bout you?" Grey said. "I'm on my way to..." Claren paused. "You don't actually have any plans do you," Grey said, smirking. "Nah," laughed Claren. He just wanted to seem like he was important. The pair stood there quietly before Claren broke the silence. "Well do you wanna like...go out somewhere?" Claren asked. "Go out?" Grey was taken aback. "Oh well like-ha ha sorry-do you just wanna chill I guess?" "Oh sure," Grey replied. They both were blushing a little. Grey didn't really know how to react. He seemed different. As far as Grey knew Claren had never dated anyone either. Everyone assumed he was a playboy but really despite his outward persona he was really lowkey most of the time. He spent his free time in between classes either skating or studying in his dorm with his dorky little glasses on. Considering this, Grey realized they'd never seen Claren act around a crush or anything of the sort. Was the way he was acting just Claren being silly or something more? Grey pushed it all aside and set off with Claren instead. They didn't know where they were going but he was leading somewhere. As they were walking, the sky grew dimmer. It was that point late in the day where it was in between afternoon and evening. Normally it would be somewhat brighter but it was cloudy that day. As they walked, Claren's skateboard brushed up against Grey's thigh. He was closer than usual. "Hey so, I know you're lgbtq and stuff, I have a question," Claren said. He didn't give a chance for Grey to respond before saying, "Well I wanted to ask because I'm not sure about my sexuality, how did you know you were-?" "Oh. I- well I just realized that I wouldn't mind dating any gender and I didn't feel right as a girl," Grey replied. Grey had already told Claren that they were pansexual and trans and he was really nice about it so it wasn't very awkward to talk about with him. "Oh ok heh..." Claren said. By then it was around twilight and they had arrived at a small park a few minutes walk off campus. The two found a spot to sit on a bench underneath a streetlight. The light shone down creating a dramatic effect that was like one of those images that you find alluring and eerie at the same time. Claren sat with his skateboard in between his legs, his hands on the board's end. He gazed down for a bit before looking up at Grey, who was busy fidgeting with a rubber band. Little did they know, what Claren really meant to say earlier was, "I'm not sure but I think I have feelings for *someone...(*you, but even someone as confident as Claren would never say that). So of course, Claren's heart was racing with anticipation. Suddenly Claren's hands flew from the board to grasp Greys face. Claren's deep brown eyes were fixed with a sharp gaze like a tiger's, proud and hungry. "What are you doing?!" Grey was shocked out of their mind. "This," Claren said.
