The sun hang low in the morning dew. Eleanor touched the flowers softly with her fingertips. She breathed in the fresh air. Her long dress slid over the wet grass. She loved mornings. The beginning of the day is so important. If your morning starts bad, Your whole day is ruined. The wind blew gently through her strawberry blonde hair. She's dreaming about her perfect life. Dancing trough the gardens, dancing with her man. Don't have to worry about anything. She closed her eyes and stopped walking. Her man walked up to her. He took her hand and brought her into the field. He started running. She tried to keep up with him, but he is faster. Then he stopped, and turned around. She bumped into him, and they fell on the ground. She would never have laughed harder in her life. She whispered softly: "I wish." She opened her eyes, and at exactly that moment the church bells rang. She woke up from her dream and sighed. She can't have that life, only if she had more money. She turned around and walked back to the castle. When she entered the door, she looked back at the gardens. She smiled.
Meanwhile in the castle, princess Ruby was stressing out again. She is the princess of Ravaryn. Her father wants her to act like a normal princess, and act elegant. Ruby doesn't want that. "If Theodore can do it, So can I!" She yelled at her father. Theodore is her twin brother. He is the crown prince. Theodore and Ruby do not look alike. Ruby has chestnut brown hair, and Theodore has blonde hair. Theodore walked up to her. "What's wrong sister?" He asked. "Father won't let me teach how to defend myself. That's nonsense! What if Oryn attacked us, what do I need to do then?" Ruby said frustrated. Theodore laughed. "You're a girl, you don't have to defend yourself. That's were men are for. Like you said, 'what if' they attack us. But they won't." He said arrogantly. Theodore already acted like he was the king. He thinks he has all the power of the world in his hands. Theodore straightened his back and put his chin up. "Don't dream to much, sister." He winked at her. But seriously, Ruby thought. what if Oryn really attacked them? Theodore could be really chill and cool about it, but it is no joke. Oryn is the name of the enemies' kingdom. They have a powerful king, called John. He runs the kingdom by himself. Both his parents died when he was very young, because of an accident. Because his parents died and he didn't have any uncle's or other relatives, he was the heir to the throne and became king when he was only 14 years old. Katarina is his right-hand man and fiancée. He has a sister, but no one's has seen her in a very long time. Some people even think she died. John doesn't come out often. He hides in his castle, and only comes out when he needs to tell something important or just when he feels like it. He and his people are very dangerous. John had always wanted to invade and take over their kingdom. And the last few months it has been abnormally quiet over there. One time Ruby overheard her father talking to one of his commanders. She couldn't hear it that clear, but out of what she did understand she found out they were talking about an upcoming war. Her father wouldn't admit it if she confronted him with it, but Ruby knew he was scared. Scared for her and for the kingdom. Even though she and her father weren't always on the same page, she got to admit that he was a good king. He cared about his people. But still, her father was acting a little to protective at the time. Ruby looked angry at her father and brother. She turned around and ran away. She knew girls weren't permitted to fight in the actual war, and because she was the princess she was constantly guarded, she still wanted to be able to defend herself. Her father called after her, but she didn't turn around. Her small heels were ticking on the stone floor. Ruby kept running and running until she didn't heard the yelling anymore . She stopped. She was standing right in front of the big stairs of the castle. "I wish mother was still here." She whispered sadly and still angry at the same time. Ruby sat down. Her dress fell perfectly down on top of the stairs. She sighed. Her mother ran away when she was only 6 years old. She never understood why. She has always looked up to her. Her mother was strong, sweet and brave. She and her father ran the kingdom together. She wasn't just the spoiled, rich wife of the king. At least, that's what people thought. No, she was the queen. And the queen ran away. Ruby heard footsteps coming down the stairs. A hand touched her shoulder. It was Eleanor. "Eleanor?! What are you doing here? You are not allowed in this part of the castle." Ruby said, half shocked of the sudden movement from Eleanor. "Yes, ma'am, I am so sorry. I was in the royal hall and heard you and your majesty fight. I was just worried. I'm sorry for disturbing you. I should go immediately. How silly of me. If you would forgive me, your highness?" Eleanor said embarrassed. "Don't be so formative! It's fine, and I am glad you came. Please, sit down." Ruby said, while tabbing the place next to her. "So, the reason I was fighting with my father is because I am not allowed to defend myself, according to him. The only thing I like to do is horse riding. I don't want to do embroidery and drink tea the whole day. I want to fight!" Ruby stands up. "Can you fight?" She asked Eleanor. Eleanor looked up to her. "Well, I know how to use a knife, but no, not really your majesty." Shw said. Ruby was silent. She tilled her head. "Is there someth-" Eleanor began. Ruby waved with her hand, showing that Eleanor needed to leave. Eleanor stood up and ran up the stairs. She heard footsteps coming from the hallway. Vocals were coming closer. Ruby walked towards them. She heard the voices becoming louder. Eleanor couldn't hear what they were saying, but she knew it were men. She knew it had to be the king. She walked away silently, hoping no one would hear her. She looked around and saw the little door that lead outside. She opened it And it creaked a little. The wind up here is way stronger than at the lower side of the castle. I will check up on Ruby tomorrow morning. I think she needs to rest, Eleanor thought. She walked down the stairs behind the castle. Her house is at the other side of the castle grounds, so she needed to walk around the crowded village. People were working hard, to get money. They sold bread and other stuff. Eleanor was happy with her job. She didn't like begging for money. She looks around the beautiful village. Farms are everywhere, with cows and horses in the fields and lots of beautiful gardens. There it was. Her house. It's not that big, because they don't have that much money. Eleanor wished that she had more money. She wished she had a big house. She wished she was royal.
