001. when the party's over

Start from the beginning

"I don't know Mar." Remus breathes, "I do know that you'll be okay."

"I just want everyone else to be okay." Maria mumbles, her eyes fluttering closed as she lets her head drop into his lap.

Remus lets out a sigh, running his fingers through the sixteen year old's dark locks as she drifts into a slumber on his knee.

"Is she alright?" James asks, only showing concern as his sister sleeps.

"She will be." Remus smiles at his best friend who nods.

"I'm worried about her Moony." James sighs, gently lifting his sisters legs and slouching onto the sofa next to his best friend, letting her legs fall softly onto her brothers lap.

"We all are Prongs." Remus says with a sad smile as he moves some hair off Maria's cheek, "she's strong though James. If anyone can make it out of a war, it's Maria."

"I'm gonna take her to bed." James states, standing up and Remus nods, gently lifting Maria and James takes her off him, carrying his sister bridal style through the slightly crowded living room.

"Is she alright Prongs?" Sirius asks in concern, prying himself off of his make out session for that party—Mary MacDonald—who groans in annoyance.

"Just tired." James states and Sirius nods, shoving his tongue back down Mary's throat as James trudges up the stairs, barely hunching forwards due to her weight.

He reaches the brunette's bedroom and slowly opens the door, his feet hitting the fluffy, white rug next to her bed as he softly placed her onto the mattress, resting her head on the pillow. James slowly pulls a soft, white blanket over his sister.
The curly haired boy walks to the door, placing his hand on the light switch and turning to look at his sister once more.

"Love you M." James whispers, shutting out the lights out and slowly closing the door, leaving Maria in darkness.

With a groan, the brunette girl lets her eyes flutter open and sees that she's tangled in her blankets and pillows. She lets out a deep breath and stumbles out of the bed, walking over to the huge window and climbing onto the window seat, opening the window and clambering out onto the roof, not before grabbing a cigarette and a lighter from the secret drawer on her window seat.
Maria sits with her knees brought to her chest as she lights the cigarette and placed in gently between her plump lips, deeply inhaling the chemicals.

She looks out across the small village that they live down a long road from, seeing the orange sun rising over the few houses on the horizon.

The brunette finishes her cigarette and climbs slowly back through the window, glancing at the clock that reads 7:25.
Maria rubs her sleepy eyes and shrugs on her brothers yellow and crimson quidditch jumper from his fifth year, it drooping over her bottom to her mid thigh and the sleeves flopping down, covering her hands.

Maria throws her hair into a lazy but somehow beautiful bun atop of her head and trudges down the stairs that have a carpet running down the centre of the wooden staircase.

She hops of the last step and wanders into the living room where she sees James, Peter and Marlene McKinnon—a gorgeous blonde girl that's going into her seventh year with James in Gryffindor—all passed out across the sofas and Lily Evans—a beautiful, red haired girl with bright green eyes that James has been in love with since like second year—is asleep peacefully in the armchair next to the fireplace.

Maria wanders into the dining room and sees Alice Fortescue—a petite, short, brown haired girl with doe like eyes— asleep across Frank Longbottom's chest on the floor.
She walks into the utility and lets out a shriek when she opens the door, seeing naked Sirius Black and Mary MacDonald in the piles of washing.
