I look up at the sky and start to wonder what my life would have been like if I hadn’t actually have sacrificed the fun part of my life, would I have still be a straight A student or would I have be like them failing students that most of the teachers have to tutor just so they can pass their class and never have to see again? I look down at my phone. Changing the song because it’s not one that I really like, but I never get around to deleting.
As I look up from my phone to see where I’m going, making sure that I’m not about to walk into a lamp post (been there done that, stings like a b.i.t.c.h.) Someone runs straight into me, knocking me to the cold hard ground. The person runs on and passes me by without even really seeing me there, even though he had just knocked me over. It’s like I’m invisible to him. As I’m getting up from the ground I huff under my breath “Invisible, I’m fricking invisible to everybody except Tommy and Charlie.”
Tommy and Charlie are my best friends. We’re like the three musketeers, the three amigos and most of the time the three blind mice. If you’re wondering why the three blind mice? Well, it’s because we make each other laugh so much we always bump into stuff as if we’re actually blind (no offense to blind people). I’m not joking about bumping into stuff. Once Charlie was laughing so much in school she bumped into a locker hit her head and fell on to the floor and was still laughing at the story Tommy had told us.
Anyway back to the ignorant person running away. I wish someone was running after him but I can’t see anybody chasing after him. If he was getting chased I’d have told the person which way he’d gone, because he knocked me over and didn’t even stop to make sure I was okay. Even from the back I can tell that he’s a fit person, I could see his muscles pumping from the speed he was pushing his body to run at. As he ran around the corner I only caught sight of a part of his face, but the small glimpse I saw was shocking. What was he doing around this part of town?
The shock of seeing him in this part of town was more than I could take. I took my earphones out and turned the music off and decided to call Charlie. Knowing that girl she’ll know why he’s running around this part of town. Don’t get me wrong where I live isn’t the worst place you could live, no it’s more for middle class people. People that actually work their butts off just to pay for stuff. Like their rent and to keep a stable home. Not like the posh part of town where I would have thought he would be running. If you’re wondering who I’m so shock to see around this area, well let me tell you his name is Dimitri jones. He’s half Russian, half Welsh (weird combination I know), and is probably the hottest guy in school. You’d be lucky if he even looked at you, he’s so high classed. Unless you have something you could offer him then he doesn’t even know you exist.
I stand still staring at the corner that he ran around waiting for Charlie to answer her phone. On the third ring she answers, took her long enough. Normally if she hears my ringtone (Raised by wolves by Falling in Reverse) I wouldn’t even have to wait as long as other people.
“Hey, Amigo. What’s up?” Amigo really, I thought she wasn’t taking Spanish anymore? I thought she dropped it to take art instead?
“Amigo, really Charl? Anyway, would you by any chance know why Dimitri Jones is running around our part of town?” I know she knows what I’m talking about because by the time she speaks again she says,
“Jenny says what? You’ve actually seen him around this part of town and running, OMG! I thought it would have been ages before he showed his face around here. Where are you? What was he wearing? I bet he looked licka...” before she can continue her blabbing I stop her. She’s had this obsession with him ever since he and his parents moved to Wales around 3 years ago from Russia. Poor girl, Tommy and I need to find her a new hobby.
“What do you mean? Has he moved to this part or something? Doesn’t his dad own a massive mansion on the posh side of town?”
“Yeah his dad use to own a massive mansion. Word is that his dads company went under and he had to sell everything. And when I say everything I mean everything. Dimitri even had to sell his Kawasaki ninja 250r. Everybody knows that that was his pride and joy. I feel sorry for the guy, the only money they’ve got now is the money his mum gets from her fashion line and hardly anybody buys it anymore. It’s like so last year” she says the last bit in a squeaky high pitched girly voice. The way she said it sounded so much like what the posh girls sound like it makes me laugh so much I almost fall over, again.
I look around looking for somewhere to sit because I’d walked further than I thought I had in the short time I’d been talking to Charlie. I’m nowhere near the library but there are benches everywhere. I check the time on the clock tower that stands in the middle of the town centre, 5:13. The library closes at 6pm on Thursdays. No point in me going now is there, I think mischievously. Yes, I know what you’re thinking ‘she’s not much of a geek if she doesn’t mind not doing any studying’ but wait until I get home later, I’ll probably be panicking over not doing any studying, even though the history project doesn’t have to be in for another 3 weeks.
“Poor guy must be hard to know that he has to give up on the ‘bank of dad’ so soon. After all of these years of it being open 24/7 for him it just closes.” I click my fingers, a sign that says ‘just like that’. I hear her chuckle I smile. I’m always the joker of our gang. Not the bad guy in Batman, no that guy gives me the creeps.
“Okay, coming out for a bit.” I ask pleadingly “I need some cheering up. And if you do come out I can tell you what happened when I saw Dimitri.” I knew that would get her suspicious and she would definitely meet me. She only lives 5 minutes away from the town centre. It comes in handy when we’re all tired and just want to get away from the crowded place.
“You know I can’t resist an opportunity to find out more information on Dimitri. Why must you know my weakness? Wwwhhhyyy?” She says dramatically. She’s the dramatic one of our little gang.
“See you in a bit I’ll text you where I’ll be. I’m using too much credit up this month and mum will go all kung Fu panda on me again if I go over my amount, like I did 3 months ago.” I hear her laugh at that. She was there three months ago at the exact time my mum opened the bill for £178.67. I don’t think I’d ever run so fast upstairs in my life before. I probably looked like a rabbit caught in rush hour when my mum turned to me that unforgettable morning.
“You can’t laugh she had a go at you as well, remember? Anyway, see you in 5” I hang up and decide to go to our normal café at the other end of town, which only takes me 3 minutes to walk to. As I head in the direct toward the café, I text Charlie to let her know where I am.
I take a seat in our regular booth which is right in the back of the café. I decide to text Tommy to ask if he wants to meet Charlie and me. Of course he texts back instantly saying he’ll be there in half an hour. While I wait for them to get here I take out my history book and do some studying. See who would actually do that? Me, the geek.
