It was a Saturday morning. I hadn't have the best sleep, I just woke up and I was really tired. I hoped that it would change by tonight. Tonight, was the monthly Sweetwater Party. These parties are an attempt of the major to encourage peace between the southside and the northside. But honestly everyone was just using these parties as an excuse to get drunk and go to a party and. On these parties the Northsiders and the Southsiders were tolerating each other. For the sake of having a good time. But I never even saw a Northsider talk to a Southsider. Excluding the times where the Bulldogs and one of the Southside Gangs get into fights. Which happens more often then you would expect. I moved to the other side of the bed while groaning loudly. I gave myself five more minutes before I got out of my bed. Throughout the Day I was busy doing homework and cleaning my room. I knew if I wasn't ready by the evening I wouldn't be allowed to go to the party. But luckily and as the responsible Teenager I was or at least pretended to be I was able to finish everything in time. I even got the Chance to have a relaxed dinner with my family and still had enough time to get ready for tonight. I was already really excited for it and just hopped I wouldn't meet Barry there. I still wasn't ready to face him after I found out he was only using me to do his shity work. God I hated that guy, but I was also still hurt. He played with my feelings and my heart as if it meant nothing and maybe it axtually didn't mean anything. To make things worse he cheated on a different girl with my as well. Well we didn't know about each other and when we found out it got pretty ugly. But I stopped myself thinking about him and her. She forgave him and now they are officially dating. I kinda feel sorry for her but after all its still her decision so. "Okay Betty now you really got to stop thinking about them!". So I put on some happy music, danced around in the room and left the house at 7pm to go to Archies House to met with Ronnie, Archie, Kevin and a bunch of other people at Archies house to play some pre Party games. His Dad was still at work and would still be there until we leave.

We arrived at the party fashionably late and there were already a lot of people and most of them drunk. I have to admit soon I was one of them. The music was good as always. And we danced around and had a pretty fun time. After some time I had to catch my breath and also I wanted to get another drink. I gave my friends a sign and left the dancefloor. I looked around and laughed almost. As I said before. Every Teenager from Riverdale who was down for having a good Time was here. The People from the Northside and from the Southside. Including the Gangs like the Southiside Serpents or the Ghoulies. But they all stand far apart from each other. You could really see, even feel the differences. From time to time people out of the different groups were looking around at the other groups. They tried to hide it, but I saw them. As I catched my breath I walked towards the bar to get another beer. That's when I met him the first time. I was kinda drunk so I didn't recognize his jacket or maybe I just didn't care and it seemed like it was the same for him. In that moment we were just a boy and a girl who met at a party. There were no good no bad no criminals or the perfect girl. When we looked into each others eyes a little to long but at the same time not long enough. He was fascinating.

J: "Hey beautiful! Are you here to get another beer to?".

B: "Yes of course!" I was surprised by myself that I sounded so strong and confident.

J: "Good choice. So what makes a beautiful girl like you go to get a beer all by herself?"

B: "My friends are still dancing but I needed a break. But you are here alone too aren't you?"

J: "Well Yeah.

We kept talking a little. Maybe even flirting. He was really nice and it felt great talking to him. To be honest it was really easy talking to him and it felt good. It was different to all the other guys after my break up with Barry. It wasn't forced or anything similar. We just joked around a little. "Well sadly I have to go my friends are waiting for me but see you around." He said while gently touching my arm. It sounded like a promise not just a phrase. It made me give him a big smile. We stared at each other for another long moment as our ways parted.

I just shook my head. This past ten minutes. I was sure it weren't more just felt surreal. Did this really happen or was the alcohol playing with my head. Still with a smile on my face I walked back to my friends who in the meantime left the dancefloor as well. I didn't have to search for them for long. They were sitting at out favourite spot. "Betty there you are!!" This was Veronica happily smiling and waving at me. Where were you. I mumbled something about a big line at the bar. Somehow I didn't want her to know about the boy I met. I just realised I didn't even know his name. Oh well I probably wont see him again anyways. Like I never saw him before either. As strange as this was in that moment, I didn't stress about it to much. Maybe he was just a friend of somebody from school. That there could be a big green snake on the back of his leather jacket didn't occur to me once. Ronnie, Archie, me and the others were folling around laughing and playing games. For the next hours I didn't see the boy again. And as I kept drinking my mind suppressed the thought of that boy and exchanged it with images of Berry. Nothing new. I was prepared for this. We broke up 6 months ago and it was fine by now. But he still haunted my mind my thought and on occasion he took my happiness. I knew he shouldn't. I knew I didn't love him anymore, maybe even what I felt for him wasn't love at all but dependency. It was nice to feel like you matter and to be hold by someone. Just to be in love. I just couldn't help me thinking of him. I felt Ronnie staring at me her face full of worry. Keep it together Betty. I smiled even though I felt my eyes filling with tears and damn I hated me so much for this. I took a deep breath in. And another one. I couldn't lose it. Not again. Not tonight. So I kept smiling and joined the conservation. But I felt like the evening was ruined. Damn was I wrong in that moment. After some time everyone started to make out. I smiled when I looked at Archie and Ronnie even tho they didn't admit it yet they liked each other a lot. I was happy for them but I needed some space. Just for a couple of minutes I said to myself. To let it all out and then I can go back and be the happy Betty again. So I went into the woods all by myself.
