So, apparently, vectorizing a copyrighted image still falls under copyright infringement. That is if you are not editing it to the point that the image takes on a different aesthetic and message (which I am not).

It sucks, yeah. But I understand from owners' perspective so...let's just steer clear of tightly copyrighted images. I'll be on the look out for 'fair-use' photos and hope I can get better at this quickly enough to still change stuff in the final vector.
If you want to make a vector cover, or just need vector characters for your cover (not restricted to black characters), you can still DM or just make a comment here.
NOTE, though, I might have to make sure that your provided picture copyrights is accommodating.
