"Hope y'all are excited to be here on your first day!" Chirped a friendly, bright-eyed woman who had a thick Floridian twang to her voice.
I slipped the lanyard and it's attached card off the surface of the reception desk, fiddling nervously with easy-release clasp, clipping it together before undoing it once more in a repeated fashion.
"I'm pretty nervous actually." I sigh shakily, giving her the earnest smile I can. She puts a hand over her heart, the maternal instinct in her taking over as she comes around the desk to give me a reassuring hug.
"I completely understand where ya comin' from honey, but you're here because you've got talent! Just always remember that you belong here!" She ushers me onwards towards a new member of staff that awaits us, ready to guide me off to God knows where.
I take a sharp inhale as we approach a door with an A4 piece of paper taped to its frosted-glass window, big black letters screaming in my face.
NEW WWF STARTERS
My heart sinks to the very bottom of my chest, the overwhelming sense of fear and dread of what would await me on the other side of that door.
My future as a wrestler in WWF is what could be mine, if I can just get through this door.
