The one with the name calling ~
We arrived at the restaurant just after my family. Phil slipped his hand into mine and smiled at me, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze. I squeezed back and walked slightly closer to him, letting him lead the way. I saw my brother, Jake, first. He came over to us and smiled. I smiled back and gave him a hug.
"Thanks for what you did the other week." I whispered.
"It's okay, it's the least I could do, you've stood up for me countless times." I smiled and pulled back, ruffling his hair slightly. Despite us both technically being adults now, he's still my little brother. I slipped my hand back into Phil's and rested my head on his shoulder as they greeted each other.
"How the hell did you manage to shut our parents up?"
"I don't know? I don't usually swear. What happened after we left?"
"They didn't really say much. They just kinda wandered around and only mumbled a little."
"And since then?"
"No change, although our mum has returned to 'normal'." He lifted his hands up and gestured the inverted commas with his fingers when he said 'normal'. I chuckled at his words and piped up.
"As normal as she can get anyway."
"By normal I mean; singing whilst she cooks and washes up, making jokes that are only funny because they're so bad and, of course, baking food that we don't even eat. She's completely bonkers if you ask me." I giggled slightly as Phil cleared his throat, pointing over Jake's shoulder. Jake turned around and tried to cover up for what he'd said, despite the smile on his mother's face.
After a load of apologising on Jake's behalf, my father turned up. I stepped slightly closer to Phil and tightened my grip on his hand. He turned his head slightly and looked over at me, before nudging our foreheads together slightly.
"Hey, it's okay. I'm right here, don't worry." He whispered. I nodded at him and smiled softly.
"Thank you." I replied, resting my chin on his shoulder, before looking back at my family. All of them were smiling, except for my father who seemed to be forcing a smile. "If you don't like it then don't look." I muttered at him, pressing a soft kiss to Phil's cheek. He giggled quietly and kissed my forehead, earning an 'awww' from my mother. I smiled and looked back at them, making small talk until our table in the restaurant was ready.
We managed to spend the evening without any arguments. Phil and I earned a few strange looks from my father when we shared little kisses every now and again, but that's just another thing he'd have to get used to. My mother was constantly talking about baking and saying that she'd bake something for us, whereas my brother seemed extremely excited about spending the night with Phil and I.
We got home at around ten o'clock and my mother and father went straight to bed. I heard my father make a fuss about the bed.
"They probably... You know... In here."
"And? They're in love. It's only natural. I'm sure you'd sleep in the ed with no problem if he was with a girl."
"You know that's not what I meant."
"Just quit your moaning and go to sleep." And that was all we heard. All three of us had our ears pressed against the wall, giggling under our breath. Phil and I sat on one sofa, cuddling up to each other, and Jake sat on the other. The sofas were large enough for one person to sleep on but that wasn't a problem for Phil and myself. We joked about with Jake for a bit, until I started to feel tired. I yawned loudly and buried my face in the curve of Phil's neck.
"I'm gonna go to sleep, but you two can keep talking if you like."
"It's okay, we won't keep you awake." My brother said.
"One thing before you go to sleep though." Phil muttered,
"Mm? What?"
"Have you taken your medication?" I shook my head and slowly stood up, before walking into the kitchen and popping the recommended two tablets out of their packet and into my hand, along with pouring a glass of water.
"You know how to sort me out if I... You know..." Phil nodded and smiled at me, before standing up and walking over to me. He lightly pecked my lips and smiled.
"Goodnight." He mumbled. I smiled at him and pecked his lips in return, before taking my medication.
"Sleep well." I muttered.
Phil explained to me that I didn't do anything different that evening. I stood silent for a while, but he kindly carried me to the sofa we were sharing and answered a few questions that Jake had asked.
"Is he okay?"
"Yes, he's fine. It happens every time he takes his medication."
"Is it natural?"
"I don't know. We read the bottle but it doesn't say anything."
"You two are really cute together by the way, how long?"
"Two years." Phil told me that him and Jake went on talking like that for about another half an hour until they both fell asleep.
I woke up the next morning, wrapped in Phil's arms. He was pressing light kisses to my forehead and the top of my head, which made me giggle quietly.
"Morning, beautiful." he mumbled.
"You too, sexy,"
"Shh... your little brother's still here."
"And my parents?"
"Yeah, your dad's still asleep but y-" Phil was cut off by a loud, feminine, squealing sound which oddly resembled a sound of adoration. I looked up and saw my mother standing over us.
"Aren't you two just the cutest?!" she cheered.
"I suppose you could s-" Phil started, but was once again cut off.
"If you don't marry him, Daniel, I'll be genuinely disappointed in you."
"Mum!" I whined, trying to hide my embarrassment with a chuckle. Jake piped up form across the room and he also seemed to be laughing slightly.
"You say that about everyone he sleeps with."
"Um, actually, Phil is the only person I've slept with."
"That's exactly my point." he chuckled.
After a few minutes of trying to avoid embarrassment at all costs, my father appeared.
"Morning, darling " he muttered, placing a light kiss on my mother's cheek.
"Jake."
"Phil." He seemed cheerful, like any father would be. That was, until he greeted me.
"Schizzy." We all just sat there with our mouths hanging open slightly. Tears started to form in my eyes and I tried to say something but I couldn't. Phil stood up with me in his arms and gently 'passed' me to my mother, who resumed the cuddling. He turned to my father and towered over him, having the advantage of being at least four inches taller.
"What the fuck did you just call him?" he growled.
