SLEEPING BEAUTY

"I wish you were still a little girl, he

said wistfully tugging at the grasses."

"Why?" she turned on him to find his eyes dark

with something she could not figure out. "Because... back then... you only had your

eyes for me..."

" what do you mean?"

"I can still remember back at the hospital

many years ago, I was dizzy from the pills I took and I felt so sleepy, everything

around me was very dark and I'm sinking, like drowning from a black deed deep

sea, my eyes were so heavy I couldn't open them, then suddenly I heard a sweet

voice telling me it's not the time to sleep now, but I can't see anybody, I was so lost... then

before I sank completely I felt something light and warm touched my lips..."

"I remembered that too." She said softly,"

I tried to wake you up; I thought it was part of the story." She smiled shaking

her head," I pinched your cheeks and nose but you wouldn't wake so I thought

that maybe if I kissed you on the lips you would open your eyes, just like

sleeping beauty."

Roy smiled at her then looked up at the

stars twinkling against the black of the night and then sighing heavily he laid

back on the soft grasses, folding both arms at the back of his head.

Alexandria

leaned over to him looking at his face. Roy could see her eyes were shining

then a single tear escaped from the corners of her eyes. "Nothing has changed

Roy, I am still the same girl who cannot bear to lose you, I loved you then and

I still do, will always do..."

"I wish it could be as simple as you think

it is Alexandria, but time is passing by so fast, even you, grew up so fast, I

wish we were back in that hospital when you were just five." His voice was so

cold but what she noticed more is him calling her with her complete name.

"What could be so complicated about that Roy?

Whether I'm five or fifteen what difference does it make?"

"I

heard you and Bessie talking about the school play this afternoon, what was

that all about?" he said one arm propped up on the ground supporting his head

and gazing up at her.

What?!

What has Bessie to do with all of these?" she said angrily "You know what your

problem is Roy? You're a big stupid scapegoat!" She said bitterly in between

clenched teeth.

"Hey

watch out your mouth little missy, I won't have you talk to me like that" he

said firmly his chest rising and falling at the intensity of emotions her words
