When I open my eyes I feel the sunlight blazing upon my skin, filling the bleak room with brilliant light, the bleak room with brilliant light, that an oxymoron.

The reason why one might describe my room as bleak is the sheer lack of decoration. Light grey walls, a small table that sat next to the wall, on which sat a vase, and in the vase was a single, dead, rose. The window the light was being let through was behind the table, and it had a view of the fields I would work as soon as I was done with my breakfast, which sat just outside my door.

Other than that was my bed, which sat, perfectly fitting, between the the wall closest to the door, and the back wall, where the window was. All that layed on the bed was a single pillow, that had over the years, become deflated, and a thin blanket.

It was this blanket that covered me, and this blanket I iched to remove every morning, the soft fabric of my uniform was much preferable to the scratchy fabric of the blanket.

So I changed the blanket for my uniform, ate my breakfast, this morning it was a slightly stale bun which had a few pieces of fruit here and there, and joined the flow the other 12-19 year old girls to the fields.

We didnt have any friends, work was strictly watched over by the guards, or "helpers" as Life Co call them, they aren't really helpful, more of a distraction, among us they are the highest power, so they can do what ever they like to us.

I have heard of a group of rebels. When the guard look away, there is chatter and I pick up things. They talk of them coming some nights, taking girls in their sleep, I hope they come for me, i dont want to stay here.

As I step outside I feel the heat stronger on my skin, everywhere near is barren, but there is a road, stretched across the deserted hills like a ribbon. I reach out my tanned hand to grab a sickle and a basket, today we were harvesting the wheat.

I mounted the basket onto my back and started to work, grabbing handfuls of the wheat and slicing with my sickle, I must admit I found it satisfying. I grabbed a second handful and sliced it, same as before, for the third time I grabbed a handful of the wheat and sliced it, just as satisfying as before. And again. And again. And again. I repeated the motion until the sunset, my stomach growling for food.

And as I walked back into my room on my table sat a bowl of soup, and a bread roll, slightly stale. I ran over to it, tearing apart the bread, forcing it into the soup and putting each piece into my mouth faster than the peice before it, and the piece before that. The soup tasted bland, but I didnt care, it filled my stomach.

At 8pm that evening I heard a beep from the the phone that sat on one of the empty walls. I picked it up and was told to go just outside my room, and so I did.

Standing there waiting was a very brightly dress woman, although it was incredibly business casual, she had a vibrant pink lipstick on, which contrasted with her pale skin. She looked at me briefly before turning away and trotting down the hall, I followed her unsure of what to do, and then she turned into a room.

It was basically the same as mine, although it had two chairs in place of the bed, one of which she sat in, a d I took the other.

"Aze 07, now you are coming up to your 17th birthday, you are now eligible to enter the reproductive system, if u choose to do this, you will not have any farm duties for the next 13 years." She began, "In order to get you pregnant we will be using a process known as IVF. Do you accept?"

"Um, how long have I got to decide?" I asked.

"30 seconds until default answer is selected, countdown will stop when answer is detected."

My brain was clouded with the reason why to and why not, I was questioning each and every little thing, of course I hated farm work, but I'm gonna miss my little room. And the food. But no days in the sun for 13 years? But I heard birth was painfull. Maybe it's worth it? No. I know this place. But, is that the right choice. I decided, no, I was going to stay here.

"Your time is up. The default answer is yes."

"WHAT! No! I dont want to go, please."

Despite my protests, the woman just continued with her sentence.

"-will be given 10 minutes to prepare, then you will be taken to the Feminine Facility. That ten minutes will be taken here, in this room."

I just sat there, dumbfounded.

My whole life had been spent here.

Every second.

I learnt everything I know here.

The ten minutes passed slowly, too slowly, a mixture of pacing and sitting with my leg bouncing. But they passed. Whith the minutes of apprehensive anxiety finally over, the door opened.

But behind the door wasnt the brightly dress woman.

Instead it was a brightly dressed man.

His outfit was made of a material I now understand to be leather, the trousers and sleeves of the jacket were blue, while the rest of his outfit was yellow. And concealing his face was a mask, much like the ones worn at masquerades, except this one was bright yellow and wasnt quite as pointy. He held his arm out

"Come with me." He said. "Its not safe here."

I grabbed his hand, silently nodding, I saw another person dressed similarly to him picking the lock on the door of another room, and one of the other girls was stood behind him.

Then I heard footsteps. The woman was back, and she had company.

"Hey" I said to the guy who had saved me.

He turned and looked at where I was pointing.

"RUN!" He yelled. "Kode, save yourself, we have to people I will hold them back"

He took his mask of and looked at me and the other girl. "Go with Kode, my name is Jax, you will not see me again." He put his mask back on, firing a pistol of the same colour scheme as his outfit at the approaching threat, I didnt move.

"Do you have one of those." I asked the man I understood as Kode.

"Come with us!" He replied

"No man should be left behind!" I yelled back.

He reluctantly threw over a gun, and I caught it, before he and the girl ran away.

I pointed it at one of the helpers, and pulled the trigger, immediately a ray of blue light shot out of it, and as soon as it hit the helper, he fell to the ground.

I pointed it at another, and another and another, until they all lay dead on the ground. Including the woman.

"All dead, all dead." 'Jax' said, blowing smoke of the end of the gun. "Your a good shot, Miss-"

"Aze 07, my name is Aze 07."

"Aze. Thank you."
