A brilliant light pierces through the windows as the wind blows the curtains away. The weather was beautiful for such a dark and dreaded day.

"Laurent." A voice called out to the boy. The voice was familiar and it only made his face grimace more in pain.

He turned around and tried his best to squeeze out a sincere smile. The girl didn't budge though, it only made her giggle. "Why was she smiling as if it's a normal day?" Laurent thought and she could see right through his expression.

"Laurent, you look like you're about to cry a dozen tears!" She jokingly mocked him, with zero ounce of burden in her voice.

"Stop ignoring the situation, Marianne." Laurent was honestly done with how smiley and happy she looked, knowing what's about to happen in a few hours. It might've been fine for her but it was far from "fine" for him.

"What do you mean?" Marianne said with a pained smile plastered on her face. Laurent's serious voice flustered her as she tried to change the subject once more but she failed. Laurent walked towards her and hugged her, holding her head lightly before planting a kiss on her forehead.

"I won't let them kill you."

RING RING RING

RING RING

RING-

"SHUT UPP!" Mira yelled in anger. She threw her phone, thinking it was a normal alarm clock but as her soul finally got back into her body, she realized that it was her phone.

"AAA NO MY PHONE!" She yelled again. That was quite enough to tick off her mom and make her barge into the room with a spatula in hand.

"Will you please stop yelling?! It's still six in the morning." Mira's mom said with slight annoyance. Nobody messes with her when she's cooking and that's exactly what Mira just did. However, that made Mira cry out more.

"Mom~! I just threw my phone across the room." Mira got up and fully took in what just happened. Her mom walked towards her bed with a glare, still holding onto the spatula.

"Child. I haven't even fully paid for that." She said with a very calm voice, to the point where it actually scared Mira.

"Yes, yes. I am going to fix it later, yes? I am so sorry, broski." Mira said, holding her hands together as if begging for forgiveness. It didn't take very long until her mom softened up and walked back to the door.

"Just don't do it again, bro." Her mom said jokingly. Mira responded with a bright smile and two thumbs up.

The time hit 7;30 AM and Mira finally arrived on school grounds, just on time. She was greeted with a very familiar face and a familiar.. bag hitting her butt.

"What's poppin', good looking?" Irene greeted Mira in her usual funny tone. It was always a nice way to start school for her.

"Why is your bag always so hard- My bottoms are in pain." Mira said monotonously. She's never always sounded reserved and classy in school but outside, it's a whole different story.

"You know what's in pain? My heart 'cus you sound so dead speaking to yours truly." Irene joked which resulted in a good laugh from Mira.

"I thought you were going to say your lungs." Mira joked back. Irene laughed so hard that it got the attention of Lyra, another one of their friends.

"Are we joking about Irene's addictions again?" She joined in, smiling brightly.

"Aye, it's part of what I do in my other friend group, okay?!" Irene said, acknowledging what she has to do outside of school.

"I do love your usual style though.. The iconic white shirt, black pants, your long ass suit and the motorcycle. Exclude the cig in mouth and bam! I'm suddenly gay!" Lyra said with such confidence that it even flustered Irene.

"I can do that, especially for you, eh?"
