It was a normal drive, I could hear my mother angrily muttering something about stupid drivers who got their driver's licenses out of cereal boxes. I could smell the cigarette smoke coming from my father who was smoking in the passenger seat. I could see and hear my sister snickering at TikTok's while ogling and drooling over the hot thirst traps like a normal person. I laughed at her and in return her judging me while sarcastically telling me I would do the same. I could hear tires squealing in the backgro- 'Tires squealing?' I thought as I looked out my window. I was in disbelief as I seen this semi lose control and come straight at us from the other lane. I heard everything the impact, glass shattering, the airbags going off, the piercing screams from my sister, my father yelling at my mother to watch out, the crunch of the car rolling caused by the crash. I could smell something metallic and I was scared. When I opened my eyes to see we were upside down I panicked and started crying silent tears praying everyone was alright. I looked over to my sister who was crying but awake with nothing more than a bloody nose and a cut on her temple along with small and large chunks of glass stuck in her skin like slivers that weren't meant to be there but I couldn't help but be relieved to see she was safe. she was my best friend and I don't know if I could function without her. But I could see the terror on her face as she looked at me as if she seen a ghost that wanted nothing but to cause harm to those she loved and I was confused only to look down and see glass embedded in to my arms and legs. I seen blood oozing from them but what concerned me the most was the 2 large pieces of glass shoved deep into my thigh and calf on my right leg. In that moment I didn't care about what I looked like or any of the damages done to my own body, I couldn't feel the pain so I was fine. I immediately looked up as she gasped and I was confused for a second until I noticed shes was looking up to the front seats. Scared out of my mind I hesitated to look. Eventually I did and I felt a small piece of my heart shatter just like the glass did. When I looked up only to see my mother unconscious and glass piercing her stomach I cried harder, I didn't want to look and see my father hurt badly too but I did anyways. It was so much worse to see my fathers head bleeding nothing left untouched by the red liquid and under him something orange and blurry that looked as if it was dancing. Finally I noticed my glasses had flown off when we rolled, thankfully I noted they were on the roof below me and I reached for them and put them on. Though when I looked back up I realized that the orange dancing blur was fire that had been lit cause of the cigarette my dad had been smoking.
